Sukhbir Badal receives kudos from industry czars
All corporate honchos praise Mr Badal's can do spirit and ability to deliver on his promises.
Today was not only a red letter day for Punjab but also for Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal. The Deputy CM won kudos from industry czars who lauded his can do spirit as well as his ability to deliver on his promises.
Leading the charge was Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani. He said "the deputy cm has not only taken our suggestions but implemented them also".
Hero MotoCorp Joint MD Sunil Kant Munjal said "we appreciate your can do spirit". He said Mr Badal had continuously pushed the envelope which had resulted in the results the State was getting today.
ITC Chairman YC Daveshwar while appreciating Mr Sukhbir Badal's decision to waive off all input taxes on food processing industry, said this had not been done to help ITC but the people of Punjab. He said Mr Badal had shrewdly realised the employment opportunities that would be created by this move as well as the buoyancy the new industry would give to the State's economy. "This shows the Deputy CM's commitment to the people of Punjab", he added.
Industry veteran Rahul Bajaj of Bajaj Group while speaking at the investment summit, said proper planning had resulted in the success the State was achieving. He said Mr Badal had come up with the right incentives which were needed to steer the State's investment story.
Mr Ajay Piramal MD of Piramal Group said he had not seen anyone with the same dynamism and ability to get the job done as was the case with Mr Badal. He said "if I had the same capability I would have done much better in my business".
Mrs Chanda Kochhar, CEO ICICI said the manner in which Punjab had moved to attract investment clearly showed Mr Badal's passion and determination to accelerate development of Punjab. She said Punjab had made very relevant promises in the first summit in 2013 and followed it up with processes which had made ease of doing business a reality in Punjab. Mrs Kochhar also lauded the fact that all the promises made by the State had been fulfilled.
Mr Ajay Singh, CMD Spice Jet, said "I wish we had someone like him when we tried to rebuild Spice Jet airlines". Mr GVK Reddy Chairman and MD of GVK Group said "Mr Sukhbir Badal had a hands on approach in helping us implement our project and also monitored its progress at regular intervals". Mr Malvinder Mohan Singh of Fortis Healthcare while appreciating the presentation made by the Deputy CM, said he was personally delighted by Mr Badal's vision as well as implementation and execution of the commitments made by the State.

This is the same development bench seen elsewhere in my photostream, but revised for a new home in Reno and a new year.
I installed an extension to accept the vise, since I got tired of items in the vise (usually shotguns) hitting the front of the bench. I also extended the shelf to hold more parts organizers. The cantilever at left is supported by a length of 1½ inch steel angle.
French cleats and shelves go up on the walls next.
An interesting thing about this modified bench is that it will have to be dismantled to be removed from the room, as it will not fit through any of the three doors.

If an author writes, "The king died and then the queen died," there is no plot for a story. But by writing, "The king died and then the queen died of grief," the writer has provided a plot line for a story.
