First observation: the water runs downhill! Obviously, this is not a very realistic simulation, but it shows that it isn't just water that flows through a watershed. It takes with it a lot of sediment, waste products and pollutants from human developments, and dead organic matter, etc. My site is a canyon that is surrounded by human developments, and there is a busy street that runs above it along one side. All sorts of spilled fluids from cars, used rubber from tires, etc must flow down from that street and eventually down into the creek that runs through the bottom of the canyon.
Carbon is presumably entering the system by fixation of atmospheric carbon into plant biomass. It is mostly concentrated in the areas of the site with the most plant biomass. Along the creek there are dense stands of trees and a lot of decaying organic matter on the ground; there should be more carbon here than in the areas that a barer hillsides. As plants die, some of this carbon is sequestered in soil, but some of it washes away as water moves through.
There is an area of rocky outcrops at a higher elevation area at the northwestern portion of the site. Phosphorous could be weathered from the rocks and run down into other parts of the system. Additionally, it could run off from the gardens of people who use fertilizer. After entering the soil at the site, phosphorous would be taken up by plants, which use it for various biological functions. It could then be moved out of the site by herbivores grazing on plants and then excreting it elsewhere.
Nitrogen could also run into the site from fertilizers used by gardeners who live on the hills above. Besides that it would be fixed by bacteria and archaea that are either free living, or in symbioses with the roots of plants. It moves through the system in a similar way to other nutrients, being consumed from plants by herbivores and then moving up a food chain or being excreted. After bacteria convert nitrogen from ammonia to nitrates, it can dissolve in water and then it is probably running through the creek and possibly entering the groundwater.
The landscape affects where organisms are located mainly through elevation and proximity to water. The creek area is dominated by willow trees that only grow along bodies of water. The area below these trees is heavy on ivy and other plants that thrive in the cooler, wetter areas. Above this, the more open hillsides are dominated by grasses and other flowering plants, which may have initially propagated the site via wind dispersion. They are now in open areas that are easily spotted by bees and other pollinators that work at least partially by sight. An example of organisms affecting abiotic factors at the site could be the above mentioned conversion of ammonia to nitrates by bacteria. This changes the way nitrogen is distributed in the system.

The audience of 145 leaders heard briefings on a range of topics that included customer service, mentoring subordinates, administrative and maintenance matters, and leadership itself. Speakers included Col. John M. Scott, Commander, USAG Red Cloud and Area I, and other garrison officials. The afternoon was capped by an indoor supper of hot dogs and hamburgers.

Cabo Riviera failed development at La Ribera, BCS. While the developers managed to destroy about a mile of wetlands and beaches, including a Least Tern colony, they only seem to have built a round-about and a fountain of any substance. (Plus perhaps one house in the development).

Virginia National Guard Soldiers put their engineering skills to work June 5, 2014, to help with an economic development project in Henry County, Va. during their annual training that began June 2. More than 120 Soldiers from the Powhatan-based 180th Engineer Company, 276th Engineer Battalion, 91st Troop Command will work to prepare an approximate 15 acre pad for future business development in the Patriot Centre Industrial Park. The Soldiers are scheduled to conduct clearing, grubbing and debris removal on the pad and roadway. Once the debris is removed, they will continue with cut, fill and compaction operations.The Soldiers from the 180th will conduct their two-week annual training on the site, then turn the operation over to the Cedar Bluff-based 1033rd Engineer Support Company for another two weeks of work. Henry County requested support from the Virginia National Guard through National Guard Bureau's Innovative Readiness Training project to provide engineering construction operations, personnel and equipment support at no cost to the county to further the construction and development of the Patriot Centre Industrial Park. Innovative Readiness Training provides real world training opportunities for Soldiers and units to prepare them for their wartime and domestic missions while supporting the needs of America's communities. The Ministry of Environment, in collaboration with the Rwanda Housing Authority and in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has inaugurated the Rukumberi Green Village in Ngoma District.
Rukumberi Village was constructed in 2014 to relocate 57 households from high risk zones around the sector. The main objective was to resettle households as a way to improve access to basic services including electricity, water, schooling, healthcare, waste collection and more.
Rukumberi Village was later selected to be improved with the green village components through the Green Economy Programme under the Ministry of Environment, and supported by UNDP.
The green village components implemented in Rukumberi Village include biogas, rainwater tanks and biodegradable waste collection centre. These elements aim to address environmental challenges and improve the wellbeing and livelihood of the community.
This approach of resettling households in Green Villages is part of a national effort to move households to safer locations that are more resilience to the impacts of climate change.
