Develop your own film! It's brilliant! - Thanks to my good friends at Uni, I managed to develop a few rolls of film I had meant to get developed but managed to put off. From now on, I'm ALWAYS going to develop my own Black and White film, never going to pay for it again. I love it. Absolutely love it! If only we could develop colour at Uni...
Developing from the RAW has improved the detail resolution of this shot but hasn't really improved the 'glow' along the back of the white duck. You can see now though that its back was a little bit beyond the DoF of the lens at 200mm - so I now think this was caused by my miss-focusing the shot rather than anything else. Other shots of the white duck against a dark background do not display this problem.

There's an explanation on the reverse side of this sign about how the money taken in is used for social programs, but I rather like it completely out of context.
Shot with a Canon QL17 on Fuji Neopan 100 SS stand developed for an hour in Rodinal 1:100.
Developed in 1:5 rodinal (instead of 1:50!) - grain and high contrast is due to overdeveloping =/ Measure your chemicals accurately (6 ml instead of 60!)
(4th May 2012) - After developing the symptoms for a nasty cold yesterday, I was contemplating staying home today. When this has happened in the past, my mornings normally follow the same pattern: I get up and don't feel great. I drag myself downstairs, have some tea and toast, and then back up to shower. And hey presto, I feel well enough to go to work! Unsurprisingly, the exact same thing happened and it was only when I got into work that the symptoms came back.
Luckily though, work was not as hellish as yesterday, with everything running fairly smoothly. In fact, it was actually quite nice, with five of us making the trip to This and That for some lunchtime curry. It was great, and the curry (or Vitamin-Curry as I've decided I will call it) helped me push back the cold.
After work I was meeting the lovely Bex. I had a longing to go to Home Sweet Home. It had been a while and I was glad when Bex agreed. By this time I was starting to feel a little worse for wear and so the first thing I did when we got seated was to order a pot of tea. Over the course of our stay here we would order brownies and another pot of tea. It was good! Bex told me that she'd handed her dissertation in and only had exams left. I really couldn't, and still can't, believe that it's been three years since I met her when she started university - it's just gone so quick!
It had gotten quite cold outside when we finally left and so we quickly said our goodbyes and headed home. Despite not feeling great, I was glad that I'd dragged myself out and into work as otherwise I would've missed out on a pretty good day!
