Per Malcom's tongue-lashing, I finally got to unpacking a load of stuff my parents brought out the last time they were in town. Among other things, I unpacked these print development trays and tongs.
They're your standard bamboo tongs circa a few years back when such things were commonplace in the photo industry. Typically the trays would be laid out left to right, first developer, then stop bath (acetic acid), then fixer, and then they'd go in a print washer. It was important not to contaminate fixer in developer or anything like that, so it was important to keep track of which tongs were doing what.
Unpacking some of my old photographic gear was definitely a trip down memory lane. I really do miss the days of black and white film and hours in the darkroom. I have a futuristic mental picture of getting back in to it when I retire and just how surreally out of date it will be by then.
