Description
The Indigenous Peoples in Canada are an inspirational example of resilience due to their ability to withstand adversity and persevere through generations of oppressive colonial policies. Historic injustices persist, including the effects of cultural genocide from the residential school system of Canada. Here we symbolize bridging the gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Peoples through gathering. Accomplished through the support of the seven grandfather teachings, represented by the seven rings of the installation, that originated with the Anishnabae Peoples, passed down through generations that ensures the survival of all Indigenous Peoples: Wisdom, Love, Respect, Bravery, Honesty, Humility, and Truth. Orange represents the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, and the reality that the support of non-Indigenous Peoples, as Indigenous Peoples assert rights to self-determination, will strengthen relations and begin to redress the historic wrongs. Orange is displayed in the ropes where the pattern pays homage to the creation of drums, where the ropes were weaved to honour culture. The installations flow towards the lifeguard stand reinforces the strengthening of the relationship and that the protection of Canada hinges on the unity between peoples. We aim to symbolize movement to a new relationship, one based on mutual respect that honours Indigenous treaties and rights. The road forward is long and nonlinear, but we commit to take the journey together.

He Looks Very Determined!! :-)
Wishing Everyone An Awesome 2014!!! :-)
After a nasty fall the other day and smashing up both my knees I thought I better play it safe and stick close to home, So today I did the rounds the knees held up but bending was hard, unlike my little friend "the tree" who bends and goes with the flow of whatever nature throws at it. My fall was a shock, and a reminder that I am not getting any younger.. It won't stop me though I will be back bouncing over rocks and cliffs in no time at all,
I feel sorry for birds in winter--but looks like this one is determined to get through winter------and looking forward to spring---thanks for visiting----BUSY--AWAY FROM FLICKR --BE BACK SOON~
Professional storm chasers monitor an approaching tornado in western Kansas on May 8, 2008.
'May 8, 2008 felt like a special day from the minute I awakened. My photo assistant and I started the day early and so did this storm. It was early afternoon. Within an hour of arriving at my target area, we got to witness full tornado genesis, from the very first towering cumulus clouds to the development of this spectacular slow-moving land spout tornado. At one point, the tornado changed direction and moved straight toward us, forcing me to speedily backup. But when I stopped my vehicle, the tornado surprisingly stopped: less than 200 feet in front of us directly over the road. It just stood there, spinning, almost like it was watching us. As luck would have it, I was on assignment for Nikon and testing an early release model of the Nikon D700. I jumped out of our research vehicle, grabbed the DSLR and started shooting. I stepped back to include the vehicle in the frame to give it scale. It was one of the most memorable days of my 23-year career.' - Jim Reed

Focus and determination - a young grizzly has its eye on the target. Funnel Creek, Katmai N.P. and Preserve, AK, during the sockeye salmon run last summer.
I was taking a landscape of this standout tree either trying to escape from or catch up with the group in the background, when these two figures strode into my shot.
Typical!
