(The 70s reference will be lost to most). From Irwin Inlet's "Showgrounds" to Boat Harbour (ie most of that day) was pretty grim walking. Either dry and desolate - esp. where the rangers had done a particularly harsh "controlled" burn - or soft sand along the beach.
