It's a desert - and that's official !!!!!

Dungeness is officially a desert and the only one in the UK. Although on the coast and surrounded by large man-made lakes the climate is very dry and water scarce.

probably cut last fall. you can still see the tiretracks in the mud.

evidence of old-growth logging from 80 years ago, among the newer slash done last year. a desolate cut on a once-verdant slope. It will grow back...
