"Desolate Dollie"
This poor abandoned doll almost engulfed by mother earth lays amongst a pile of rubble near my property.

without intending to do so, i rolled into Oatman, AZ at high noon. there were quite a few tourists for such a desolate area, but oatman did what it had to do to survive- set up fake gunfights and seven million t-shirt stands.
i made it all the way to my last day without eating single french fry. there was little else to eat in the saloon, and with my bar-shaped food supply finally depleted, i gave in. i sat in alone with my basket of "freedom fries" and listened to the waitress, her husband and the restaurant owner talking town gossip. there was quite a bit given that the town was all of one block long, and apparently sides were drawn between the east an west ends. i have it on the QT that the tshirt guy at the far end is a drunk and likes to hit on married women. this does not always go over well with the husbands, and apparently real bar fights do happen in saloons. now THAT i would pay to see.
Walking in the streets of Roma, during a rainy day, inspired by the weather and the time, the situation and the light, look at this reflection in the water, seen the bird in its surviving behaviour.
If you have a fast internet connection and a big LCD, I sudgest to see the original size, that is very detailed.

A series of shots from our first holiday together as a family of 3, save for the fact that we've made an agreement to spare out daughter from being plastered over social media/the internet until she can make the choice herself to do so, and to perhaps offer her some chance of not being inundated with embarrassing photos in those magic years.
The Peak District, though only an hour or so up the road from us in Lichfield, seems like a whole different world; travelling without the whole pesky travelling thing, with the added bonus on a four story quarryman's cottage (and two bedrooms so I could sleep peacefully elsewhere...)
Today I worked from home, which meant I could start early and finish early. I had planned on hoovering whilst Cat and Squishy were at a Halloween party, but instead finally got round to processing (very loosely, I simply can't be bothered with too much) some holiday photos, photos I took during the early stages of labour and the (numerous) photos of Squishy.
Maybe a Project 365 could be on the cards next year...

Desolation Lake from the North, Wasatch Mountains, Utah. Why anyone would call this turquoise gem desolate is beyond me. This lake has no outlet, and only snow melt for an inlet, so its depth varies greatly from year to year and season to season. It has no fish, but lots of big Tiger Salamander live in it. Near high mark because of the deep snow pack this year.
