Derek was really flying in this qualifying session, I had been watching him for many laps.
I set the camera up for a nice 1/60 pan and then I think the front tyre said enough!! this was the only shot in the four shot sequence that looks any good.(rider got up and walked away)
I stood about 20' out onto the frozen reservoir to capture this shot. No farther in fact than the cross country marks left in the snow from those with skis, and a safe place to stand. The tower is a vintage oil derek located in Heritage Park and made a unique point of interest at sunrise.

A portrait of Derek the two year old Bulldog I am currently looking after in Whitstable, Kent, England.
Taken on the back garden with the Canon 50mm with a wide open aperture of f/3.2.
Just realised I hadn't ever posted photo's of our little Derek (otherwise known as the avian terrorist) on here. He's been around a while now having arrived as the 80th birthday gift for my other half, from the grandkids. Total shocker of a gift but he's become a full on family member and has free rain of the house.. he does take himself back to his cage at bedtime. Anyhow - meet Derek.

Quite a significant order at the time, they replaced older Plaxton bodied AEC Reliances in the fleet and were operated on holiday shuttle services to France, Spain and Italy which were heading towards peak popularity in the early 1980's.
At the time of the advert some of these coaches had been part-exchanged for Scania K112 chassis with the new Jonckheere Jubilee coach body.
Randall suffered a spectacular collapse in early September 1985 with debts of a reported £1.1M.
I've seen this photo multiple times in multiple places, and it's always tagged as being Derek, but it just doens't look like him to me.
I wonder how much he was paid to do this photo. Probably a lot. I would want a lot for something like this.
