Robert F. Layman was the owner of this merry-go-round built by the Armitage Herschell Company of North Tonawanda, New York. Layman, from Homestead, Pennsylvania was owner of two merry-go-rounds and brought both to St. Louis for the St. Louis World's Fair. This one was at Delmar Garden Amusement Park and the other one was at Fairgrounds Park. This photograph shows several members of Layman's family. The cowboys and Indians were reportedly from Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. Family history says that Layman earned $70, 000 that summer.
