An abandoned building with faded letters -- all that remains of this old head shop originially called "Definitely Different". They sold all kinds of pseudo-legal and strange items, from dildos to "belt buckles" (they were really brass knuckles) to "water pipes" to surrealist art and blacklight posters. They also had dishes and china and some uninteresting stuff that was inexplicably present as well. I bought brass knuckles here before, and fortunately never had to use them. I lost them in the snow while sledding drunk in our apartment's backyard with Carolyn.
The store eventually got in trouble with the Christiansburg authoirties, and was shut down. But that did not stop their persistance. They opened a new store, called Billy Bob's Tobacco & More, on the left side of the exact same building. Definitely Different still operated as a shell of its former self, and anything they got in trouble for they simply moved to the other side of the building.
This worked surprisingly long. They were still operating when Carolyn & I went to Virginia Tech. The very last time I left town, ever, I stopped by to pick up a couple posters for souveniers, and they were closed. But the lady recognized me and let me go in and make a purchase anyway. Good ol' country service.
So coming back to Virginia Tech / Blacksburg / Christiansburg for the first time since Carolyn's graduation (1998), it had been at least 6 years since I'd been here. It is only a 10-15 minute detour (each way) out of the way. I recognized the houses, the REALLY HUGE sattelite dish, the weird thing that gets my attention everytime I go (but I can never remember what it is except when I'm there), and the stupid dog statues.
Not much had changed.
The store was still here, a shell of its former self. The letters were gone, and all that remained were faded letters in the paint, where the actual letters had previously existed. There was no sign of any life whatsoever except a tattoo parlor sign that was barely visible. Everything was the same as it had always been, yet right here it was completely different.
I had to get out of the car and stand in the parking lot to really take it in. It was so strange that such a place of wonder no longer existed.

Definitely one of the strangest things I've ever seen pull up outside my office window. Yes, those are airbrushed nude women busting out of the SUV. Yes, those are emergency-vehicle lights up top. And yes, this is Dennis Rodman's Hummer.

This was definitely a sleeper hit! Nutty kinako and whole wheat flours get an extra boost of protein (and structure) from vital wheat gluten and Greek yogurt. A big handful of plump raisins pair beautifully with the spices too.

Definitely it is impossible to say - "it is hard to shoot Cape Gannets underwater or not?" On the one hand - Cape Gannets underwater at the time of braking are moving slower than dolphins or sharks, but on the other hand - it is impossible to guess in what place she will go down in the water ... A reference point may be only sound that accompanies it dive and the trace of the air bubbles, which resembles a jet aircraft vapor trail. Kind of Cape Gannet, seizing prey, almost always triumphant.

1974 - 1977 C3 Corvette, according to C. J. Muller below. Thanks, Chris. Definitely want to stay out of the way of this one when you're out on your Sunday drive. I've never seen this car before, but apparently it has been a fixture on the Ypsilanti car scene for a couple of decades.

Definitely a stranger who remained a stranger, mainly because I couldn't see her face.
Helen is a Thai foreign worker who works in the Utopia Park, in Kibbutz Bahan, Israel.
There are over 20.000 orchids growing there. Simply amazing.
When I saw Helen first--quite honestly, I had a little startle, it was so unexpected. She suddenly emerged out of the bushes and stood almost face to face with me.
I reacted fast though, said hello and asked why she was dressed that way. Unfortunately, her English was too poor to develop a conversation with. I had difficulties in understanding her pronunciation. I couldn't make out all that she was saying, but somehow I understood that she meant it was because of the sun that she was dressed that way.
I introduced myself and asked her to pose for me. I thought I could see her smile behind the mask.
She agreed to pose with my brother, too. We had a very little talk and we parted shaking hands.
I wish I knew her language to ask all that was in my mind.

I've had this vase for for quite awhile and these small tulips seemed ideal. This was another long exposure.

It’s really hard to find this guitar, but I promised myself that I would own one one day. I’ve found Mosrites in Bangkok only a few times in my life. I couldn’t buy one the first time I saw it because it was too expensive. I was so disappointed at that time. Then I found another one in a shop at Fortune Town, but it wasn’t for sale. Later that day I went back home and decided to bid for one through an eBay auction, which I won. I spent a lot of money on this guitar and the shipping price. I was so poor for a long time after that.”
This is definitely 1 of the most beautiful waterfalls in the Pacific NW. There are actually 3 separate waterfalls.
This is definitely workbasket because of the size of the sheet from top to bottom. It seems odd that they cut off the bottom of the transfer when there was room above but looking closely at the sheet it appears to be the 'bonus' pattern that is on the other side of the fold from the larger pattern sheet.
Challenged myself by taking on the Tumbler. Definitely one of my favourite batmobiles. The challenge here was scaling with the batman minifig as well as ensuring the exterior comprises of mostly flat panels without studs.
I have other photos showing the batman scale to this. I know the actual tumbler is shorter than an average man (hence minifig) but that would probably compromise the details.
