Rome’s Invisible City in 3D ist ein BBC-Film, der in Zusammenarbeit mit ScanLAB Projects gedreht wurde. Dabei kam hochauflösendes Farbscannen zum Einsatz, um 3-D-Punktwolken von Straßen, Gebäuden und versteckten unterirdischen Räumen in brillanter Detailschärfe erfassen zu können.

The Snake Nebula (also known as Barnard 72) is a dark nebula in the Ophiuchus constellation. It is a small but readily apparent S-shaped dust lane that snakes out in front of the Milky Way star clouds from the north-north-west edge of the bowl of the Pipe Nebula. To the right side of the Snake Nebula is found Barnard 68, Barnard 69, Barnard 70, and Barnard 74.

Collaboration with jah~, who added the concentric rings for a light painting challenge to create the Cat's Eye Nebula. This composite image was created for the first in a series of challenges in the new group Deep Space Imagineers (AKA Space Madness), the goal being to produce a similar pattern in one exposure.

Am DO 23.2.2017, 19:00 eröffnet Prof. Marc Streit (Studienrichtung: Informatik) die Vortragsserie mit dem Thema „Daten sehen – Krebs verstehen“. In seinem Vortrag stellt er neuartige Visualisierungen vor, die uns beim Auffinden von Mustern und Zusammenhängen in den Daten unterstützen. Anhand von vielen Beispielen wird erklärt, wie interaktive Visualisierung großer Datenmengen beispielsweise in der Krebsforschung und der Entwicklung neuer Medikamente eingesetzt wird.

We were playing with some physio-grams last night and remember that tacky had used some El wire on one of his recent ones , so we tried it ourselves and had some decent results.

Captured over 3 nights. A mix of 2 and 3 minute subs @ISO800 unguided. Canon 450d on Celestron 80ED mounted on an HEQ5. A total of about 168 frames totaling just over 6 hours total exposure time.
Another attempt on the second night at the University of Western Australia, might as well try different things...
This dramatic image offers a peek inside a cavern of roiling dust and gas where thousands of stars are forming. The image, taken by the Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS) aboard NASA's Hubble Space Telescope, represents the sharpest view ever taken of this region, called the Orion Nebula. More than 3,000 stars of various sizes appear in this image. Some of them have never been seen in visible light. These stars reside in a dramatic dust-and-gas landscape of plateaus, mountains, and valleys that are reminiscent of the Grand Canyon.

Things I've seen in my coffee...
When I make coffee, I like to look at the strange patterns that the foam and bubbles create with the coffee powder and milk. Sometimes really nice patterns show up. At some point while I was making coffee I was thinking about how I often tend to want to keep everything under control in my photos. I prefer to have subjects like landscape, nature, macro, etc, often things that stand still. I find it hard to photograph people because I wont know their reaction.
As I was thinking about how I could let go of "control" more in my photos, I watched the pattern in my coffee evolve, without me being in control. Then I immediately got my camera, and took pictures, seeing them and being impressed, I decided to photograph my coffee for a week. Playing around with those photos resulted in this series, which I am actually pretty surprised by and happy about.

I'm still spending a lot of time thinking about what I want to do with photography, whether it should be more in the artistic direction or more commercial. I would like to do travel photography, travelling all over the world, taking pictures, preferably in assignment for magazines/websites/tour operators/travelagencies/publishers etc.

I'm currently studying photography at art academy AKI in Enschede, the Netherlands.
I'm trying to make up my mind whether I should continue in the artistic direction, even though I have the feeling it is not really my thing, especially not analog photography, or whether I should continue in the more commercial direction.Most of my HDR photos that you may know me through, are more commercial in my opinion.

One of the largest panoramic images ever taken with Hubble's cameras was released to celebrate the 17th anniversary of the launch and deployment of the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope. The image shows a 50 light-year-wide view of the tumultuous central region of the Carina Nebula where a maelstrom of star birth – and death – is taking place.
Hubble's new view of the Carina Nebula shows the process of star birth at a new level of detail. The bizarre landscape of the nebula is sculpted by the action of outflowing winds and scorching ultraviolet radiation from the monster stars that inhabit this inferno. These stars are shredding the surrounding material that is the last vestige of the giant cloud from which the stars were born.

UNESCO City of Media Arts – so darf sich Linz neben Lyon, Dakar, Tel Aviv und einigen anderen Städten seit Dezember 2014 auch nennen. Nicht ohne Grund, denn Linz hat viel mit Computer, Digitalisierung und Kunst zu tun. Die Ars Electronica beobachtet und zeigt seit 37 Jahren neue Entwicklungen, deren Grundlage und Inspiration Kunst und Technologie sind. Mit dem Ars Electronica Center ist Mitte der 1990er-Jahre ein Museum der Zukunft entstanden, das sich voll und ganz mit den neuen Medien, ihren Ausformungen und Auswirkungen auf die Gesellschaft beschäftigt. Medienkunst ist dabei ein wichtiger Bereich, dem wir uns an diesem Wochenende widmen möchten.
