Max Hamlyn for Registered Practical Nurses Magazine. A 6 shot panoramic image to create a wider view while maintaining a shallow depth of field.
Strobist info: Since the sun was setting behind us at camera left, but I wanted to light Max evenly, we scrimmed the sun falling on him with a 3x6' Westcott Scrim Jim & 1-stop diffusion fabric. Then, an Elinchrom Ranger Quadra through a 100cm Deep Octa was boomed camera left, but enough to get light onto his face. I used a Variable ND filter to keep my shutter speed at 1/125th while keeping the background exposure in-line.

Senior madness is about to take off..
i had a wonderful session with Samantha, we had lots of cool shots..
but this is one i wanted to work on being it really just shows her fun nature..
she was really easy to work with, and very humble.. her mother boomed my quadra and her boy friend was also on the shoot with us..
light was boomed camera right just outside of the frame.
i used my sky port speed transmitter for the first time. and it is really nice to have the power controls on top of my camera.. makes this shooting business so much more simple..
very little processing on this... why did i shoot so wide? well i have learned by hard lessons that if mother wants a 8x10 then this wide can be cropped down to that...
so lesson learned is work a pose up close, mid, and wide for all options.. take your time and get all 3 version so you have options..
39 inch deep oct was about 8 feet camera right.
power was about 1.6 or 1.9 i can't remember

Kate's senior photos..
we took these about 3 weeks ago.. and i am still working on them.. shows how far behind i am on edits !
but here is a light texture sepia blend that i am creating for my clients.
it is a jessicadrossin texture....
lighting was Elinchrom Quadra boomed by her mother..
grassy posing is pretty simple..
i call this ground posing.. (there are so many more posing options on the ground than standing straight up i think)
plus you can crop where you want too like i did here
lie on the ground and get all the angles that you can for more options..
the grass provides a simple and clean background..
light was camera right (broadlighted her) at about 1.5 power with the deep octa about 6 feet away

a shot for the Senior again..
this one was a new look for me..
i had to use a ND filter to get this with my quadra..
i wanted a 2.0 aperture, but had to settle for the F3.2 number
normally i shoot with the radio poppers but the light is a broad light.. and i wanted to shape the light and short light every time possible.. so with the elichrom quadra and the deep octa that is possible and the power of the quadra could have easily done this..
i just needed a stronger ND filter.. i had the .6 and i really needed the .9 in this sun light.
but over all i am very happy with this shot..
