Jersey Shore Fightin’ Texas Aggie Ring was having such a good time today, he asked me to pull into Deep Cut Gardens in Middletown Township, New Jersey on the way home.
It was a beautiful cool day with a nice breeze and Aggie Ring said, “It’s just down the street. Let’s pull in and see the last of the roses and Monarch Butterflies.”
The gardens/park are along an Indian path that eventually became the Kings Highway in Middletown. Eventually, in 1935, the 35 acres was purchased by Vito Genovese. Vito was once head of the Genovese Crime Family. He did very well for the family during Prohibition and was known as “Boss of all Bosses.” There are tales about when certain Italian-American gentlemen would visit him at his home at Deep Cut and were never seen again. An unexplained fire destroyed his mansion after he “suddenly” had to leave the country for Italy.
Aggie Ring said, “You don’t mess with a Jersey Shore Aggie Ring. We know how to “take care of business” and the body will never be found. Just watch the Sopranos.”
The design is a mixture of English and Italian styles. Features include a pseudo-Italian rock garden on the steep slope below the house, terraced gardens at the foot of the hill, large recessed rectangular garden area surrounded by a low stone wall, and a masonry pergola.

This is Flower, Skyy's cat. She reminds me of a solemn old woman, constantly sitting on her comfortable rocking chair and pondering about random facts of life. Skyy dubbed her the 'Empress of the Couch', and I can see why.
A representative soil profile of a Bleached Orthic Tenosol in a map unit of pale deep sands. These soils are white, grey or pale sands overlying gravels to depths of at least 80 centimeters (cm). These soils are from the Swan Coastal Plain area of Australia. Topsoil:
Pale grey, white or pale yellow water repellent sands
Subsoil:
Pale sand matrix to 80cm

Coloured sands may be present at depths > 30cm
Subsoils highly leached with poor nutrient status and retention

Tenosols have only weak soil profile development. In the Australian Soil Classification they are defined as having limited B horizon development (less than 15% clay content) but more development than the most rudimentary soils (i.e. Rudosols), including possible bleached layers and colour changes. Using the Australian Soil Classification, Tenosols can be subdivided according to surface organic matter depth and percentage, bleached layers, development of a subsoil and contact with material immediately below.

Goldstone Deep Space Communications Complex

Goldstone is one of three complexes around the world known as the Deep Space Network (DSN) established to provide the ability to communicate with spacecraft; not only in orbit around the earth, but also in the farther reaches of our solar system. The Deep Space Network complexes, placed 120° apart, provide constant communication with spacecraft as the Earth rotates. In determining the exact position for the site in California, a remote location, free from radio signal interference, was needed. The remote location of the Mojave Desert in California, near the old mining town of Goldstone, was determined to be an optimal location and in 1958 the first antenna was built. Facilities near Madrid, Spain and Canberra, Australia complete the Deep Space Network providing 360 degree coverage for spacecraft tracking.
