This is the side view of 7-11 subway this is visible on Elm deep. Look at the back of the building say Santa Fe paint Co. I guess this is what it first was.
These large, metal numbers are in the Riverwalk in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This one is just south of the St Paul Avenue Bridge. I don't know if the riverwalk artist was referring to "Deep 13," a setting for the tv show "Mystery Science Theater 3000" or was just indicating depths of the water.
I have to give credit to my wife for taking this picture. She didn't know what she was doing, she just picked up my camera and started shooting pics of our daughter. The camera was still set up for a concert from the night before so the ISO was set pretty. I applied a b/w filter in Aperture.

New England Aster (Symphyotrichum novae-angliae) - Orange Trail, The Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge Wilderness Area, Gillette, New Jersey
These reminded me of the Alpine Asters I had seen at Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks, but this aster was definitely an much deeper purple than any of the other purple asters I have seen. Thankfully it was a calm day and I was able to get some nice DOF to show the squiggly sepal leaves and red stem.
I had originally thought that this was a Swamp Aster (a.k.a. Red Stemmed Aster) due to the red stems. My thanks to BC for setting my straight on that, 'cause I hate to have miss-IDed stuff in my stream. So in the event you ever think my ID may be wrong on something, by all means please let me know!

Image taken on my delightful day heliskiing with RK Heliski ( www.rkheliski.com/ ), near Panorama, British Columbia, in the Purcell Mountains. It was funny actually, Laura never seemed to mind me going heliskiing for the day, AFTER I had proposed, HAHA!
Knee deep powder which we enjoyed all day :) This was just after we stood outside the helicopter from the first drop.
