This is one of a series of photos of the Kuman New Testament dedication

in Kundiawa, Simbu Province, Papua New Guinea, on the 27th day of June

2008. This is the first day these people could get a whole New Testament

in their own language. There are about 950 languages spoken in Papua New

Guinea. Other than the 3 national languages (Melanisian Pidgin, English,

and Hiri Motu), Kuman is the language with the third highest population

of speakers.

Inscription with a dedication to Psithyros (ca. 200 AD) at the Acropolis of Lindos, on the island of Rhodes, Greece.

Lindos was founded by the Dorians in the 11th centruy BC. With its high Acropolis located between two natural harbours, the Polis was once a major centre for trade between the Greek world and the Phoenicians in the Levant. Since the 6th century, Lindos was also home to the sanctuary of Athena Lindos which likely developed from the cult of an unknown local goddess and became an important shrine to Athena in the Hellenistic period. The significance of the site is indicated not only by famous visitors like Alexander the Great but also by the Propylaea and monumental staircase as well as the many votive altars and exedrae that can be found on the site.

Right next to the Temple of Athena Lindia, a stoa was built in the 2nd century AD, dedicated to the oracular demon Psithyros (whose name roughly means "the one who whispers"). It has been theorised that this "whisperer" was seen an intermediary between the worshippers and Athana Lindias.

According to the inscription, the stoa was dedicated to Psithyros by a man named Seleukos after he was instructed to do so by a dream. Notably, the epigram not only emphasizes the inner purity of worshippers but also states no offering to Psithyros shall be less than one drachma.

The inscription reads:

in English: "Seleukos built a temple of many columns for Psithyros and adorned it as he was instructed in a dream. He also declared that the sacrifices be conducted by those of the best conscience and that he would not appreciate the honour lesser than a drachma.

The visitors of Athena’s temple should visit this one, too, because those who sacrifice will be given fair favours.

Jim Morris, Greater Indy Habitat CEO, welcomes Verdell's family and friends to her home dedication.

My friend Bob has a daughter, Casey. Casey lost a friend to brain cancer at very young age. To honor and remember her friend, Casey created bracelets. She sold the bracelets to help raise money for the Make A Wish Foundation. I rode with one of these bracelets on my bars for Casey and her friend.

Dedication Ceremony for the IU Kokomo Main Builiding on Thursday, April 14, 2016.

I got to my spot early (like around 6:45!) to enjoy the view during the day. I spotted someone kayaking in the river and was amazed at their dedication. I managed to grab a few shots of them in front of the city before disappearing down the Licking...
