I made this image as a dedication to the family from my home town that were impacted by the Volcano at White Island. My suburb is not a large one and there are always connections with many people affected.
This is the Church of The Good Sheppard at Lake Tekapo, New Zealand. It is iconic for the images taken of it under the “dark sky” the area is famous for. On a clear night you can see billions of tiny stars twinkling and the wonders of a never –ending universe. One that is sometimes hard to understand.
I feel a long way from home at the moment.

It was probably around 10 months ago now that I took a vested interest into woodland photography. Looking back this was probably brought about through the changing of the seasons and some very inspirational shots I had seen from some prominent and some not so prominent photographers.
It was also about this time that I noticed my photography in genral was shifting, I was no longer trying to compete against shots I had seen on social media or forever chasing that elusive colorful sunrise or sunset (I still do chase these from time to time, mainly in winter when the trees have retired there foliage) instead I was paying more attention to smaller details and how things came together in shape and form. One thing woodland photography isn't is easy, far from it in fact. A lot of my early attempts at woodland photography left me with nothing but frustration. How was it these photographers made it look so easy? I would find what I thought was a great looking characterful tree take some shots of it and the images on review would be lifeless and I just didn't get it, what was I doing wrong? I think I am slowly beginning to have some thought on how to answer this question and hopefully this image is testimony to that.

To B. Henry Estess Jr., retired Dallas OB/GYN and naturalist who was committed to serving numerous causes, especially women's health and the environment. He was a longtime board member of Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas. His enthusiasm for life was reflected in the organizations in which he was actively involved, included The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Society, The Dallas Zoological Society, the Texas Advisory Board for the Environmental Defense Fund, Educational Opportunities, and many others.
This statue 'honoring his legacy' was dedicated by his family and is located inside the Dallas Arboretum.

It is extremely sad to witness puffins resorting to using fishing line to construct their nests. This highlights the impact of human activity on the natural world and the dangerous consequences of littering. The use of fishing line puts the birds' lives at risk and has serious consequences for the puffin and its offspring, including entanglement, injury, and death. It is crucial that we all take responsibility for preserving the environment and its inhabitants by disposing of waste properly and reducing our reliance on harmful materials.
The steam was so intense, I was here for probably twenty minutes before I even realized there was a man in the water.

Taken @ Frontenac Park. This was taken one week after the last photo of Big Salmon lake. The colors are more muted and the light was fading. But the sky was awesome!

I'm impressed that there was still a bee humming around yesterday and still collecting pollen so late into the season.
It was the only (live) bee I saw yesterday and even though the wind was being a little over enthusiastic, I felt determined so I fired away and ended up with this one, which I think turned out pretty good!
Didn't have time yesterday to comment or upload, so I'll catch up today. Yesterday was just too busy and I had to rush after work to hit the road.
Anyway, hope everyone has had a good day.

Construction on the Lindon, Utah Temple is now complete and it is open to the public for a limited time before dedication. Here is a view from outside after the sun went down.
This is the interior of the Catholic Church in Our Lady of the Rocks island, which s adorned with Byzantine-style paintings, including frescoes depicting religious scenes and local folklore, and features a main altar made of Carrara and Corinthian marble by Antonio Capellano.
It houses a revered icon of Mary and Christ painted by Lovro Dobričević and contains votive objects, including maritime artifacts and an 1828 embroidery made from silk, gold, silver thread, and human hair, which reportedly took 25 years to complete.
It is unique in every respect and it only conveys the dedication of people, who not only kept faith in God, but also dedicated every piece of art they could learn in their lives.

Quaid-e-Azam Residency (Urdu: قائد اعظم ریزڈنسی—Qāʾid-e Aʿẓam Rẹziḋinsī), also known as Ziarat Residency, is located in Ziarat, Balochistan, Pakistan. It is where Quaid-e-Azam, Muhammad Ali Jinnah spent the last two months and ten days of his life. It is the most famous landmark of the city, constructed in 1892 during the British Raj. The building is a wooden structure, originally designed as a sanatorium before being converted into the summer residence of the agent of the Governor General. It is declared a national monument and heritage site and is of great architectural importance.
On 15 June 2013, the Residency was targeted with rockets by terrorists and badly damaged.
However, it has been reconstructed and opened to public since 14 August 2014.
Jinnah is one of my ideals and is a symbol of dedication in the history of Indo-Pak subcontinent, today is his birthday.

The weather on 19/01/2021 at the top of the Hohneck (Alt: 1363m), no visibility causes fog, strong wind blowing at 100km/h, at a temperature of -10°, abundant snow, the Hohneck hotel truly turned into a ghost hotel. (small dedication to the film "Shining" by Stanley Kubrick).

I feel a need to post this because I took a spill trying to get here. Bad shoes on slippery rocks = bad news. But I remember holding my camera high to protect it from the water, while my hip and elbow took the lion's share of the fall. Had to ice down a bit later, but the camera stayed dry. Thus, this was my hardest shot to get of the Maroon Bells.
To the one who is more beautiful than all of the most beautiful things in this universe put together.
I knew I was looking through my macro lens at a very pretty butterfly, but when I got around to processing I could hardly believe the spectacular colour patterns on the underside of its wings.
That tiny strip of out-of-focus material at the bottom bothers me; I wish I could have avoided it somehow, or at least the small portion that rises up at the centre. It's a small thing, yes, but I'm a perfectionist. And I understand that there is no such thing as perfection. We live with our contradictions. I enjoy the challenge of trying to come away with the photo I envision - exactly, no compromises. It happens so rarely...
Lying flat in the muck near a side branch of the river, I couldn't do much to change the angle of view because I didn't want to scare the butterfly away. I love the look of this little critter anyway. And I enjoyed the process - trying to put it all together in the field - as much as creating the final result. Probably more.
I did put more effort into photographing butterflies this past summer than I have for several years, and have to say I have a greater appreciation for photographers who create excellent, flawless images of them. It takes hard work and dedication. Somehow I was reminded of my first published photos, in photo magazines back in the 1970s. I think my first three submissions were accepted. I thought I was hot stuff. Then I received about ten rejections in a row, and came back down to earth. With this photo, I came to earth - literally and figuratively. More butterflies to follow as I round out the current insect series before moving on to something else.
