Sculpt progress on Zhora (Dancer version) - Blade Runner 1:18 scale. More like adjustments before the sculpt. I thinned out the legs and accented the hips a bit. Difficult to see the progress with the black frame coming through - makes the sculpt appear rough..and it still is but not as much as before and will definitely be cleaner the next round after I finish sculpting the rest of her body, namely the upper arms and chest. Found an older cast of a sculpt I did awhile back for the head but it's not ready for a reveal till more details can be added. Shot taken with my iPhone so sorry about the quality. More to come! #bladerunner #zhora #replicant #dancer #snakes #joannacassidy #sculpt
Inspired by model builder Randy Cooper's work on his scratch built 1:12 scale Spinner (Blade Runner - 1982), I have chosen to modify my 1:18 scale Medicom Spinner Car - mainly the interior...and starting with the seats. I plan on updating the dash as well. Lights?....Not sure how far I may go with this. Anyway, the image shows the original seat in the backgroung and the newly sculpted version . I'd say it's an improvement! :)
There have been volumes written about this cult science fiction classic and numerous versions released on DVD. I like the first one flatly narrated (in true film noir fashion) by Harrison Ford with the last sequence lifted with outtakes from Kubrick's "The Shining" (1980). The production design is extraordinary, even if the producers guessed wrong that LA would be Oriental and not Hispanic in the future. The story is still confusing at times and I don't care if Deckard is an android or not. It remains a classic, far superior to the juvenile "Star Wars" (1977).
"I don't care how long we had together. Who does?"...closing line by Deckard referring to Rachel

This building at the entrance to Battersea Power Station development looks like the typoe of city apartment that Deckard from Blade Runner might have chosen if he was to live in London!

It's November 2019 and the events of Blade Runner are "happening", and this picture couldn't be more appropriate.
Built in 1893 by a gold-mining tycoon, the Bradbury Building is a hidden gem in downtown Los Angeles. The interior of the building is like stepping back a century in time to a period of unprecedented prosperity in the history of L.A. Appearing in numerous movies in the past century, the Bradbury achieved worldwide fame as the location of Deckard's apartment and the climactic showoff with Roy Batty on the building's roof in the first Blade Runner movie.

Phillip Dick wrote the provocative science-fiction novel "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sleep" and I find myself wondering aloud (mostly to myself) about a variety of related questions, such as:
Do horses--and mules, dream of unfettered sleep?
A partial synopsis of the "world" of this science-fiction novel is (I find) illuminating:
Androids are only used on the colony planet of Mars, but many escape to Earth to escape the isolation and to be free of slavery to humans. They are made entirely of organic components and are physically indistinguishable from humans. Bounty hunters, such as Deckard, track down and "retire" fugitive androids posing as humans. A bone marrow test is performed on the body of each retired android to confirm that it is not a human who has been killed. Bounty hunters are required to apply tests such as the Voigt-Kampff empathy test to differentiate humans from androids. The test measures brain activity and eye movement in response to emotional triggers, most of which involve harm to animals. Because androids cannot feel empathy, their response is categorically different from those of human beings. The simpler Boneli test measures the speed of the reflex-arc response which takes place in the upper ganglia of the spinal column.
Mercerism is a prominent religious/philosophical movement on Earth. The movement is based on the fable of Wilbur Mercer, a man who lived before the war. Adherents of Mercerism grip the handles of an electrically powered empathy box, while viewing a monitor which displays patterns that are meaningless until the handles are gripped. After a short interval the user's senses are transported to the world of Wilbur Mercer, where they inhabit his mind in an experience shared with any other people using an empathy box at that moment. Mercerism blends the concept of a life-death-rebirth deity with the values of unity and empathy. According to legend, Mercer had the power to revive dead animals, but local officials used radioactive cobalt to nullify the part of his brain where the ability originated. This forced Mercer into the "tomb world." He strives to reverse the decay of the tomb world and ascend back to Earth by climbing an enormous hill. His adversaries throw rocks at him along the way, until Mercer reaches the top, when the cycle starts again.
Another device from the novel is the "Penfield Mood Organ," named for neurologist Wilder Penfield, which induces emotions in its users. The user can dial a setting to obtain a mood. Examples include "awareness of the manifold possibilities of the future," "desire to watch television, no matter what's on it," "pleased acknowledgement of husband's superior wisdom in all matters," and "desire to dial." Many users have a daily schedule of moods.
The most significant cultural icon on Earth is Buster Friendly, a jovial talk show host whose simultaneous radio and television programs air 23 hours a day. This implies that Buster is an android. Buster is seen as competing with Mercerism for control of people's minds, to the point of frequently attacking Mercerism.

Thanks, Coincoyote, for showing me how to quickly generate this.
The reason I have taken the other grabs is to have my own record for when photos just disappear as did !!!Jimmy's. I had grabbed quite a few of his colourful offerings, then went to show one of them to someone and couldn't find it. Imposter or not he had sure put up some interesting pictures which would have fit nicely in a collage.

RED SEA (March 16, 2014) U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Tyler Deckard, Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 263 (Reinforced), 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), corrosion control noncommissioned officer in charge and native of Bartlesville, Okla., touches up some chips and scratches in the paint of an MV-22 Osprey aircraft to protect the aircraft from corrosion aboard the USS Bataan (LHD 5). Many of the aircraft’s markings were hand painted or custom created by Deckard and other MEU Marines, including the squadron’s logo on the tail of the Ospreys. The 22nd MEU is deployed with the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group as a theater reserve and crisis response force throughout U.S. Central Command and the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility. Ridley Scott
Ficção científica
Roteiro: Hampton Francher e David Webb Peoples, baseado em livro de Philip K. Dirk
118min
EUA 1982
Sinopse:

* Harrison Ford .... Deckard

* Joe Turkell .... Tyrell

Curiosidades:
