Size: One can construct a deck as big as they want so long as it is within your property line. But, a huge deck may look out of place and inappropriate next to a relatively small house. If one thinks their proposed deck is too big for the house, they should divide the area by constructing smaller sections.

It is recommended for an individual to choose the main posts required to provide support to the redwood deck. One can make use of metal sleeves for fence posts in order to avoid wood decay. Deck support columns in the ground also may require the added protection of tar and metal sleeves for the same reason. Lastly, one can outline the final design on graph paper and use different colors to review the various color choices for their redwood deck.

The thing hanging down at the end of the deck is webbing used to hold up a hammock. On the left is a bag of tent poles belonging to a friend. On the floor on the right is the top of the picnic table.
