Many areas near my home show that monocultural conifer forests are less robust than mixed species forests in times of drought. Here, near the "Hermannsdenkmal", storms that occurred earlier this year have destroyed many wooded areas and just felled all the trees. The remaining trees are obviously damaged and will not survive for long...

A photo of mine, of dead gum trees.
Created in Photo shop. I used an image of a silhouette of a man, from Microsoft Word stock pictures , overlaid on another layer.
I based the idea on this useful tutorial www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwqGpVJh2m4

This goose never took its eye off me as I explored this swampy area in some woods near my home. Didn't see any other geese.
Lots of dead trees reaching up at the dawn light.

A 3 shifted shot pano about 20 minutes before sunrise.
My previous three posts describe the amazing attraction of this tree in the Bear River Range of southeastern Idaho. I have heard it called the Mail Tree, Pony Express Tree, and Keebler Elf Tree. The wildlife sign is located on this side and the mail hole on the opposite side. I wonder what other stories and legends are out there?

Low water levels in the reservoir have revealed many more of the broken off stumps of flooded trees.
Even after this tree has live it's life, it still stands to remind us of what it was. Still beautiful after death. Please keep our trees healthy. we need them to survive.
We hiked down the South Kaibab Trail to Cedar Ridge in the Grand Canyon just before sunset with a sky of blue and scattered storms.

I'm not sure this fits the category, but I'm pleased when I have an idea in my head and I finally get it to work. It took parts of five images to get here, but I think I like it. Tomorrow, I may hate it....maybe it's the antihistamines messing with my head.

👎 Rejection:
On 26 January 2024, the administrator for the Flickr group, "Flickr Forest & Woodland Landscapes," rejected this image as NOT depicting a woodland landscape. That's some serious mularkey, Jack!

A change of pace from my usual piers and city scapes. This is a place I used to visit with my camera a few years ago. I've always been drawn to this dead tree. The tortured shape reminds me of the Disney Classic - Fantasia.
It's a roundabout story as to why I visited this tree last night. I was actually feeling a little down after cutting down my favourite tree in my front garden. Sadly, extreme winds this month, and its vast size were too much. It split in half during a storm last month and the wind last weekend felled another huge limb. I was left with two options, let it fall on my neighbour's house, or cut it down. As I stood in my garden, pondering the remaining stump, I thought of this old dead tree. It seemed fitting that I'd visit again with my camera.
