Painterly work of a dead tree on the river bank.

A dead tree near the footpath that runs beside Little Moreton Hall, Cheshire.

Although if you stare at it long enough (as in trying to get the contrast right) then more and more , it feels as if most of the branches are pointing south! ......, Toward the Black Country ! 😀😊

A foggy early morning In Murray River National Park under the Supermoon light.

This was about 1km from my previous shot and the fog seemed to be moving off to the left..

A two shot pano at 05:20hrs 2/8/23. Shot at 70mm, ISO 640, f/5.0 at 4 seconds. The water is flowing, at a reasonable rate from the left, over a closed section of one of the roads there.

The temp there at the time was 1 deg C.

The moon is still fairly high to the right and behind the trees.

Yet to catch some decent fog at Moog… this has been the best its presented me. Nonetheless, I'm enjoying the chase and catching up with fellow flickrites. Thanks to Lenabem-Anna for sharing your textures.

Cheers for viewing (:

this picture was taken from a very low angle and in sepia tone. i like it because it gives the illusion the tree is longer and it gives the picture some depth

Only a skeleton remains of a tree I have considered an old friend in this park for over two decades. It was sad to watch it die, until the only green left were the mistletoe leaves that were killing it. Finally a storm took it down.

Morning alpenglow on the rugged mountains of Glacier National Park in Montana. I've been here all week and it's been beautiful but the shooting is a little tough. The major roads are closed, and it's been windy almost all the time, so no good reflection opportunities. On the plus side, the wind sent me searching for more interesting foreground subjects such as this gnarled dead tree on the shore of Saint Mary Lake.

A while ago / I walked the woods / and met this tree / with one clear message: "no more nukes! go tell this to the world."

Work work work. That's how its been recently so I haven't had a chance to shoot let alone look at my photos from last year! However, I did see amazing clouds caused by a late and rare April storm system that came through the Bay Area. This is located in Fort Funston, a place with so many photo ops. Even with the wind howling as it is, sea spray was never an issue.

A fallen tree trunk is slowly disintegrating back into the soil where it grew for many years. I was attracted to the dark tree trunk surrounded by backlit grasses. I cropped the image to remove distracting elements.

dead tree on rock

The hot springs and geysers in Yellowstone National Park shift their locations now and then. When changes occur, trees in the new location die. Often it seems as though the minerals in the water act as a preservative.

Happy Slider Sunday!

An ancient dead tree leans away from the prevailing winds. It looks like it died a long time ago, but snow still sticks to the upwind side. This nature story is in Emigration Canyon, Idaho.

I post this to give an impression of the popularity of Sussovlei, Namibia with photographers. The site is large however and there is no problem in getting a clean image.

I captured the two images that make up this Vertorama shortly after sunrise at Theewaterskloof dam this morning... in the pouring rain!!

I haven't shot anything decent in absolutely ages. So yesterday evening I decided to go to bed really early... so that I could wake up really early... so that I could hopefully find something nice to shoot.

But as Murphy's Law would have it... when my alarm woke me at 4am this morning... I could hear heavy rain battering down on the roof above me! The temptation to turn over and go back to sleep was very strong... but hey... if I didn't get up and at least try to shoot something... then I definitely wouldn't get anything! I decided to drive until it stopped raining... hopefully that would happen exactly at sunrise... but probably not. :)

After driving for about an hour... the rain stopped just as I reached the Theewaterskloof dam. This is a great location if the conditions are right... so I parked the car... grabbed my camera and tripod... and hoped for the best. I didn't quite get the sweet light that I was hoping for... but I can't complain... I was in my element... looking for compositions... and having loads of fun!!

Sheesh... I really haven't been a very good Flickrer lately... I have been looking at your photos... but I haven't commented on anything in days! Please don't feel obliged to leave a comment here... I can't promise that I will comment on any of your photos (in the near future)... so I honestly can't expect you to waste any more time with me! LOL!!!!

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Life has a way of remembering the dead and forgetting the living. Your canopy used to be tall and lavish. Now all I see is your naked being. Here I keep you company. So we can both feel lonely.

A foggy early morning In Murray River National Park under the Supermoon light.

A single shot at 05.00hrs 2/8/23. Shot at 98mm, ISO 640, f4.00 at 3 seconds.

All these dead trees are standing in a slow flowing creek,

The temp there at the time was 1 deg C.

The moon is still fairly high, behind and to the right, of the trees.

A beautiful Winter's afternoon travelling in the Central West countryside around Neville, Mandurama and Carcoar. NSW, Australia.

This is taken at the same place and time as my previous shot "Fog light", (actually only 1 minute difference)

All the same camera settings except 9 seconds longer but facing away from the super moon.

A little less fog in this direction tho
