After the darkness of the cross there is joy and new life because Jesus rose from the tomb and conquered death!
Happy Easter to you all.
The clematis on the studio deck is blooming sweet little pink flowers...abundantly! The snails and bees are happy, as am I. Rain this morning. Errands in town. Studio time later this afternoon and then maybe the sky will clear. Day89 recording the view out my studio window.
i think plastic surgery is weird. well not weird, but i think it's bad that teenages are having/planning to have some done. i mean i'm not completely happy with myself, i'm not sure if anyone truly is, but i wouldn't consider plastic surgery. i've been reading some facts and statistics on teens wanting it done, but i could only find some from 2005 heres some:
40% of teens want plastic surgery
Four in ten teenage girls have considered plastic surgery.
Two thirds of the 2,000 girls quizzed, average age 14, said the pressure came from celebrities with perfect bodies and boys.
Only 8% were happy with their bodies with a quarter saying they had suffered from an eating disorder.
I'm pretty sure statistics will have changed a lot since then, so if anyone finds any, let me know? :]
what do you guys think of it?
ah i got a paper cut off my maths book before when doing homework. just proves i shouldn't bother doing work as i injure myself. must mention that to my teacher tomorrow.
a dear dear friend took pity on my sole(s) and gave me the gift of a spa pedicure. It felt great and my feet are all pretty now but the best part by far was spending the time with her sitting next to me - telling me her story and laughing with me at mine.

wallah we're cute!!! awwww <3
today i went to the hospital in the morning, had a blood test, went to uni an hour late for my lab, finished my lab, got my week-old test results, had a minor heart attack, took the tram with my uni mate sophie and had a good old chat, went to latrobe, saw mohsi ilham and ahmad, bought subway, ate subway, saw sandi emna jenan and a few boys, went to therapy, bought a $3 red bull and candy, briefly saw nadene from afar, drove with mohsi and ahmad to deakin in burwood to see summy, had the funniest laugh in the car ride there, got to deakin, found free parking, went into the nursing building that looked like a hospital, disrupted many classes, walked to the orgy fountain lmao, found summy, went for a tour of their library, then we went to the other side of deakin past the creek, found adile, went back to the car, said bye to mohsi, took this picture all together, then took the tram down to the city, sat in the tram for about 40 minutes, talked a bit too loudly a random guy two seats away added his input into our conversation lmao it was pretty funny though, got to flinders, went to es teler an indonesian restaurant for dinner, i bouht nasi ulam (or something like that), omnomed it all, drank soy bean milk, enjoyed it, watched adile die of spicyness from the chilli, talked for a while longer, then went to mc, said goodbye to my lovelies, took my train down to heidelberg station, got off and went home.

Seeing as how Starpixie has revealed her secret super hero identity today. I thought I'd better unleash my evil side for Fancy Dress Friday, and give her a super villain evil genius to fight against!

There is no love quite like the love of an animal or for an animal. Completely unconditional, always comforts you when you really need it, only criticizes you when you're cruel, and the best part? THEY'RE FLUFFY!! Upon consulting Wikipedia on the matter, I found that there are alternates to the seven holy virtues (other than the ones I'd found years ago). If love isn't a virtue (and I guess in this list it isn't) a dog definately counts as forgiveness, because they really do always forgive you. I have to leave for long stretches of time, abandoning my dog to the rest of the family, but when I come home she still loves me and is happy to see me. That's forgiveness.
constructive criticism welcome
Dinner: Went to an Indian restaurant called Sankalp for dinner - they serve chutneys in small silver bowls. The chutneys are delicious :-)

Day 90 Another Month is over, enjoyed the sun today. Tomorrow is supposed to be even nicer, can't wait!

Hanged my show this afternoon at The Spill Coffee Bar. The festival kicks off on Monday. Looking forward to visiting the other venues.

Everyday Is Like Sunday - Morrissey
Yesterday's beautiful weather has disappeared, and gave a sort of Morrissey edge to the day, and this seaside town - St. Annes, Lancashire, UK.
The view from one of my windows today was very similar to the photo The promise of Spring 1, 9th March.

I bet the driver ducked (pardon the pun ) for cover when he struck this unlucky bird swan, goose or maybe a duck looking at the size of the marks and feathers...

currently listening : liar (it takes one to know one) - taking back sunday
089.365 - March 30, 2013 - Had a full day today with a rehearsal in the morning for Easter Sunday, then helping my mother-in-law with some yard work and then back home to help my wife set up her hair styling station in a new location in our home. Then I convinced her to go on a brief (and muddy) walk in a nearby park to capture today's bokehrama. I had grand plans of capturing a "jumping" bokehrama by having her stand on her tip toes on a bucket and putting my camera on a tripod so that I could capture a frame with no bucket to allow for easy removal in post, but turns out she doesn't quite have the balance necessary to stand on a somewhat slippery bucket on her toes long enough for me to capture the necessary frames! Ha ha, but oh well we went to plan B which is this picture. It was a memorable and fun time in the woods nonetheless!
It was very drab in the woods with barely any color (all brown and dead) so I opted to give this one a dark sepia treatment.
This one is comprised of 42 images taken at 50 mm 1.8.

Hoy les presento el túnel de la estación General Urquiza.
Un lugar al que pocos se atreven a visitar. Justamente hoy, extrañamente, lucía limpio y con buenos olores, cosa rara para el lugar.

It was Mr Fox's turn to cook again today. He wasn't particularly surprised. Mr Fox has yet to fully decipher Mrs PB's chore rotor, but from what he can tell it involves fairly light work for her. In fact, according to Mr Fox, Mrs PB's name is only listed beneath the eat, drink and splat columns - very convenient some might say!
Mr Fox still agreed to cook, but only on the proviso he could do one of his specialties - Chilli con Carne. Despite her love of beans, Mrs PB's never actually had Chilli before on account of the vegetable content. However after yesterday's little 'incident', the constant tirades of 'television health maniacs', Mr Fox's reassurances, and much soul searching - brace yourselves - Mrs PB has made the unprecedented decision to relax her vegetable stance!! She still hates them with a passion, but after-all the only good vegetable is a dead vegetable, and what better way of ensuring they've snuffed in than splatting them beyond recognition, cooking them to smitherenes then passing them through your gut!
Just don't suggest that she tries a raw vegetable!!
Day 89 of 365.
Paid a visit to my massage therapist, Mark, this afternoon for a bit of treatment on my dodgy back. I usually see him every 5 weeks or so.
He's a big strong bloke who could teach the CIA a thing or two about torture. He has this nasty habit of digging in past your muscles and playing your tendons like a double bass. He also occasionally reaches for a huge rolling pin and treats the long muscles of your back like a giant lump of pizza dough.
I think the sequence of pics above gives you a pretty good idea of just how much all this hurts. But ... get through the pain ... and he works bloody wonders.
Here I am lounging/perched on the hearth of a stone fireplace (the fire is thankfully not on) at a local coffee shop. I loved the light and the stones, so I started playing around.

I have a confession to make. No, this isn't the start to a Foo Fighters song (even though technically they aren't even the lyrics - points if you know what song I'm poorly referencing), this is a confession of a lack of enthusiasm, a lack of time, a lack of confidence, a lack of morale.
You see, when I started the 365, I was so enthusiastic about going out and taking a photo each day, editing it and uploading it. I was extremely lucky to have my photos explored and featured in Flickr many times at the beginning of this project. I also had more free time as I hadn't started back at uni and I hadn't taken on the amount of projects I am now taking on. I also didn't know as much as I knew now (I am not for one moment saying that after 80 odd days I am now an expert, but I would confidently state I have improved lots as a photographer!).
However, at the moment I'm creating multiple short films, all at different stages; writing scripts, in pre-production with other scripts, in post-production with one, and about to start filming with another. On top of this I have a dissertation looming and I'm set to record a new EP with my band, as well as constant rehearsals for this years gigs. Because of these extra commitments, I find it hard to plan a shot and go out and execute it! That in turn means I take 'last-minute' photos which don't challenge me technically and make me lose confidence in my ability as a photographer.
So these above reasons have meant that, for the last five days, I haven't taken a single photo! It's been like a Gap year for my 365. I've thought about why I'm doing this project and I've spoken to several people who have all given me great advice! And now, I'm back on track! I realise now that this project isn't for anybody but me. While it only really exists when it's uploaded publicly for you guys to see, the actual ideology of my 365 project is about me doing this project for me!
I was scared about starting back up as I didn't want people to think that I skipped the days because I just couldn't be bothered or people might say "But you've failed Drew Davis! No more uploading for you!". Well, yeah, I may have failed but that doesn't phase me. I'm gonna start back up, and this photo is the window (see what I did there?) to the new start!
Ah, now that that's all off my chest... the photo details!
This shot is yet another from Claire's window overlooking Milford. But today I realised something. It may be the same location, but it is a vastly different photo. The perspective of the camera, the sizing of the photo, the framing etc, all result in a new (yes a new!) photo!
With this new boost of confidence I shall go forth and complete this challenge!
To comply with the pedantic project people (I love alliteration) I shall be taking five more photos throughout the 365 and making them my honorary Day 84-Day 88 shots.
Thanks for reading!
