Day 89/365: 2015

The weekly theme is out of focus.

# 32 in my 100 x challenge - using my 50mm

I hope this counts for out of focus, I manually focussed (well, out of focussed) on my primulas, then intentionally moved the camera, using a slow shutter speed. Then merged three images in photomatix to get this effect. I think it looks like a sunset.

Day 89 ~ 365.2015

ODC ~ Almost for 03.30.15

A horrible Gadwall photo dressed up to look ok....

Thanks all! I used Dreamscope.com and PicMonkey.com to save this photo.

A combination of sun glare and a light breeze create a patch of shimmering "sky blue waters" on the surface of Crescent Lake in Berrien County, Michigan.

I have only prepared my taxes once before on my own. It ended badly. But I decided to try again this year. My daughter is not happy with this pic. She says it's lazy. Ok. I got up at 6:15am to drive her to a soccer tournament, sat watching the game in 40 degree weather. Came home, walked the dogs, did laundry, did taxes and then had to attend a charity function tonight (one of my photos was in their silent auction - people actually bid on it!). It is now 11:15 pm and I am sooooo tired. So call me lazy.

Day89 - Never really did much (anything, actually) with a macro lens and decided to give it a go today. So here's my first try. These are teeny tiny flowers in our front garden. Pretty excited to continue this journey.

89/365 -Around the house - Day 89

For Day 89 of 365. And for TRF. And for FGR "Nerd" day.

TRF: Softball season starts tonight! That means "softball jersey Monday" will be here soon!!!!

And since pretty much nobody looked at my shot from yesterday, I'm making up with it with two for today! (Come back tonight...)

Day89-Keys of Life

March 30 2012

So many keys, and its so easy to make a mistake. When you are able to press the right keys, you create something beautiful. But on the other hand when you miss a note or press the wrong key everybody notices. Just like life piano keys are. Full of choices and if you press the wrong key everybody will notice

My partner came home Saturday night and told me there was a scary dilapidated carnival in a parking lot.

Owners/employees of scary dilapidated carnivals don't like people with cameras...just sayin'.

Day 89 - Bokeh coming your way

Got some Bokeh coming your way! Just got to catch it...

Thinking about todays challenge it suddenly hit me. I had this fun idea and knew how I wanted to do it. After setting up and starting to shot I wasn't getting the results I was looking for. For some reason I wasn't able to get a fitting Portrait today. There are just those days when it's not working out. After trying for over an hour I finally got one shot I was close to being happy with. That had to do.

Ok, there have been a couple of Questions how I did this shot. There is actually less editing involved then you might think, I try to get as much as possible done when shooting. First I went ahead and took the picture of me in that throwing position. I wanted to get a good light on my face and arms, fading towards the bottom but having a good separation on both sides against the black background. Also I went a little wider with the lens I was using to enhance the idea of something coming at you. Then I got my good old trusty Christmas lights out again. I laid those out in a row, turned off the light and took a couple of pictures with a wide open lens and varying shutter speed (to get different levels of brighness). What I got now is a row of bokeh balls nicely lined up that I just need to put in the picture. Put a couple of extra single bokeh balls in there to get a break in the pattern and your done.

BTW I'm thinking about putting up a couple of videos explaining how I did these shots and the thinking process behind it. Would there be any interest in that?

For Irish/Steve... the guy who makes us laugh, remember our first experiences, expose ourselves, give to those in need, think about the grand scheme of things, and sometimes just learn to step back and live a little.

I decided one of me wasn't enough for a tribute, so you get the evil twin today as an added bonus- even though it's a bad clone job because of limited editing software- and because of the flash usage due to dark skies. But I'm not worrying about it, and I'm not going to try to take a hundred more shots to make up for it. I'll have a Guinness (and a Turbodog) for you tonight after I log off Flickr earlier than normal and go about enjoying the world outside!

... for your good KARMA:-)))

It's Sunday evening...and the inevitability of going to work tomorrow morning has put me in a funk...I am not in love with my current job...it's time for a change

Light drizzle this morning. Went out and saw the raindrops hanging from the limbs of the bushes. Should have gotten the tripod but shot this handheld with the 100. I'm always amazed at what you can catch in a drop of water. Finally started to feel like Spring.

I was going for abstraction as I played with a spray bottle, a couple of strobes and other objects. I never really got what I wanted, but I liked this one. That's an extension cord for color behind the airborne water droplets.

And, for good measure. Here's the song. :)

These lizards grow BIG in Mississippi! It must be the humidity!

Today's theme for ODC is oval and one of the first images to pop into my head was an egg. It's been a while since I've tried doing anything new in photoshop, so I decided to work with the idea of Yukiko 'hatching' out of an egg. ^_^

Here's the tutorial I used for this photo

Photoshop Tutorial: How To Make an Egg And a Person Getting Out Of It(2)

though instead of making an egg like they did in part one of this tutorial, I just took a photo of an egg on a white surface.

This is for the Our Daily Challenge Group

Today's theme is "Oval"

Exploring the foot tunnel under the River Thames from Greenwich to the Isle of Dogs. First opened in 1902 and still amazing. I liked the way that the lighting threw out concentric circles of light down the tunnel. The whole image also seemed to work better as a zoom-blur... so here you go: Day 89/365 View On Black

I woke up this morning and saw the world and everything within it as new and worth marveling at. had been feeling waves of apathy as of late, so this new-found wonderment is most welcome.

Day 89 (seriously?! that's all?)

Please excuse the poorly-executed shot (nothing is in focus...arrrrrgh!). I wanted to do something quick and simple today (I'm sooo tired) but this turned out to be much more challenging than I thought... :-(

So I have a 50mm now...but I don't have my 1.4 yet. Crispyparty traded his 1.8 with me for a Medela breast pump - LOL!! Thought it would be handy to have a spare 50mm that I can abuse... :-)

Egg shells contain thousands of pores (examples of which are easily seen here) that allow for the exchange of gases: carbon dioxide is given off, to be replaced by oxygen.
