38/365 - Happy Caturday!

Strobist: SB-700 speedlight with snoot camera right, low and pointed at paper, triggered by TTL cord (but on manual). SB-24 directly to left of Moriarty optically triggered, beautifully illuminating his scrotum. Daylight flat grey and boring. Tulips really were bought for me by Mr A, my sweetheart.

Trying to take my mind off not receiving exam results yet by re-reading novels.

... they said results available today! TODAY! Freaking admin *froths at the mouth*

You see an endangered species: Ice flowers! The winters are getting warmer and more and more houses are provided with insulated glass windows. So I seized the moment and took home with me this artwork of nature.

Shot on iPhone 5.

I had to duck into the city at lunch today, and it started to pour. I did a few shots (nothing special) and was waiting for the shuttle bus back to our office. I noticed the reflections on the pavement and started trying to shoot people's shadows in a reflected city scene. It took a few passersby to get it right.

About five minutes later, the footpath had started to dry out. I like how this is a moment that could only have been captured in this way at that time.

Incidentally, didn't really do any processing - just cropped out the person's body and flipped the image.

A cold, wet, evening walk to the grocery store can net some interesting images. My "square only" rule for February has pushed me to work harder on my composition. I went out tonight, fully intending to shoot something like this and ended up with a number of interesting shots that were all quite different from each other. It was a fun exercise.

It was also kind of surreal as people rushed by, heading home or just looking to get out of the cold, with hardly anyone paying attention to the guy with the camera crouching here and there to shoot wet cobblestones and benches. I felt invisible... which isn't a bad thing for a photographer.

Brrrrrr-rrrr-rrr it was freezing in the UK this morning. Mailmanalan said there will be six inches of snow tomorrow morning!

This image popped into my cold head as I wondered at my iced car, sparkling in the early morning sunlight...here I expose my evil streak to you, destroying the unique beauty of the complex, crystal structures, for my own gain.

I grew up on Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. To me it was beyond magical--it was practically a religious experience. Alice is everything i love in a girl: imaginative, inquisitive, defiant, and a little bitchy. Plus she talks to herself. She's perfect.

Anyway, there are a million images of Alice out there (the Disney cartoon, and Arthur Rackham's great series of illustrations), but the original drawings by John Tenniel are by far my favourites. Not too pretty. A little scary sometimes. Totally classic. And here's my take on one of them.

Took Pippin out for a run this morning before work.

In the DAY 38 (28/08/2017) I came back for another, but last time, in my favourite woods in Passo Nigra.

Unfortunately, there is 75% crop, my lens was too short. Thanks,PS ;-)

When I saw this, the first thing that came to my mind was the song by Allie Moss: Dig with Me. It's a good song. Anyway, I don't do many food photos but this one I couldn't pass up. One layer of caramel covered in white chocolate. LOVE white chocolate. It was good...for the first bite. Then it was sugar overload. Had to let it go..

P.S. The shovel was part of the apple - the note said "we dig you"! (It was given to my dad from a group). Cheesy!

P.P.S. I am STILL stuck on Storm of Swords (book 3 in Game of Thrones)..my pod was going to be a shot of my kindle, showing the fact that I'm 88% done with it ..I've been working on this one for months. I sped through the first two so I don't know why I can't get back into it. Determined to finish it the next few days. I can't start a new book without finishing the first 4 (or is it 5?)..trust me, I tried. But my mind always wanders back to SOS.

The Yeti takes to the snow like a fish to water.

Hi daddy. Wanna play with me? I love you. Let me.. kill you. Daddy.

Why is it that baby dolls look so scary? Is it because they are lifeless and emotionless? Is it really that hard to make them cute and friendly? Or is it.. their unmistakable ability to possess evil demonic powers...?

I wish I got the face more in focus (it was hard to do it handheld in 1/10 second exposure). But of all the ones I took I like the position of the head in this one.

I needed som fresh and rainy air today, so we went for a walk down by the harbour in Nordnes. Where I found this rusty chains. I think they look kinda cool!

Sometimes it's good to be reminded of just how magical nature can be…

I made myself a promise yesterday, having taken all the photos for the last few days of my 365 inside, that I'd head out for a photo opportunity hunt today. I've been frustrated with my photos lately (even the ones that have recieved good praise) and felt like I needed to kick myself in the butt a little bit. It didn't look so good though when I came home from school looking paler than a ghost and crawled straight into bed feeling queasy and suffering a headache; by the time I'd begun to feel a bit better it was already dark outside.

I didn't want to bail on my promise though, so a little past eleven I reluctantly dragged myself out the door to take some pictures of one of the installations for the Winter Lights Festival and call it a night. And man, am I glad I did.

It's been extremely cloudly as of late so I immediately noticed I could actually see the stars tonight and then, low and behold, I saw a tiny whisp of green across the sky. I called my dad right away to see if he wanted to drive out of the city with me so I could take some pictures of the Aurora after midnight for day 39, but he'd just come home from a work reception and, well, you don't drive after drinking, so that was out of the question. I admitted defeat and continued walking to my original destination. But wait, much to my delight when I reached Skólavörðuholt (where I took the first picture of the year) the tiny green whisp had turned into a full blown light show; a hundred times better than the installation I had intended to photograph.

Out of all the shots I got in, this one was by far my favorite as the Aurora Borealis did the most dancing for me here. I decided to put a b&w gradual filter on the city scape just to minimize the distraction of all the different colors in the buildings and allow the lights in the sky to be the center of attention. All in all, today's shot was a pleasant surprised and a very welcomed change to the slow pace I feel I've been going at recently.

And I don't know why it doesn't look as smooth on flickr as it does on my computer, but ain't much I can do about that, already tried replacing the photo =/ So I've decided to stop letting it irritate me.

It's the little things at the end of a busy stressful day that makes everything else just fade away.

Quick shoot today...maybe too much edit time. Looks best big and on black. I'm afraid the subtleties will be lost in the thumbnail.

是來騎腳踏車的?

No,有她更喜愛的

Told you I may have to resort to more toys..!!!!

Well, if I were a bit good looking, I would've done a selfy.... but didn't want to scare you all good folks.

Wanted to create a light trail behind the bike, but couldn't figure out how to do it, so just added some motion blur to make it a bit interesting.
