South Portland, ME

Many say it's the most photographed lighthouse in North America.

My cat, Ice Cube, frequently sits like this.

This morning we had a break from the light storm that came in yesterday. There was still enough of the storm clouds around to gather over Bishop's Peak and catch the early morning light.

"Upon Layers"

Just learning how to manipulate and to use layers in Photoshop

Elements. Still have a long way to go before I can really do what I

want to do in this medium. But, it's nice to go through the process

anyway.

Not for Bunny, so much, as for me. Just not feeling well at all today. This shot is a bit of a phone in, but it's the best I've got in me today. Tomorrow is another day, as they say.

Handlebar Moustache....Day 26.

Hi Everyone,

I'm back from the most amazing holiday in Thailand so am now starting to play catch up with my 365.

This shot was taken on our first night from a pedestrian foot bridge.

I could not get over the amount of traffic even at night in this city and had to take this shot.

Tried more locations for a miniature tilt-shift. Still not satisfied.

Day 26/365:2015

After a very long and tiring day, I had no idea what to do for today's photo when Podge came up to say hello. I grabbed the camera, had to use the flash which poor Podge wasn't keen on. What would we do without our pets and families.

I'm not going to be around much for the next couple of weeks so I'm afraid I will probably have to post my daily pic and run. I'll catch up as soon as I can though.

My self-made items are

- Pullover: バタフライスリーブチュニック/Butterfly sleeve tunic L

- Pants: Tamanegi-Kobo Black Spinel 40

Day 26 of 365. Gosh, why do I keep exposing so much flesh?! I promise that tomorrow's picture will include my face and no bums, slippers, legs or wallpaper. Probably.

But yes, I'm a big Muse fan. Can you tell? :D

my boy in repose.

January 26th. While there is more snow up north, we have a beautiful sunny day. It is the holy Trinity day for mothers - a non work day, with sunshine and wind. Yes, I can hang my washing on the line to dry!! With 4 sporty children, believe me this helps my Aegean Stable task no end. However, you have no desire to see our smalls ( great word), I'm sure. I took the dog out and surprised these birds in a field; as they rose up, I whirled round and snapped a load of shots. Straight into the sun, so I have had to process this a little. I have also submitted this to the new Flickr Friday group for "Beyond the Horizon". It seemed apt.

Day 26 - Pride and Pejudice and Zombies...

... and I think they are coming to get me.

With all the things I read for University it's sometimes nice to get my hands on something else. So my book tip for this month is definitely Pride and Pejudice and Zombies by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith.

this idea came from something I first said to Joel a couple of days ago and has since become my mantra...

I aim to be like a cat, because cat's always land on their feet...

this took a while to make it look even half convincing. I thought for sure there would be a tutorial on this type of thing out there somewhere, but I looked for one this afternoon and couldn't find anything that looked half decent...

so I made it up as I went along. I started by finding a picture of a cat that could somewhat resemble me if I were feline...

Thanks to powerbooktrance and his mom's cat Buddy!

Day 26 theme pets

Thanks to our trip out on Tuesday night I noticed the trees along the road to Binion & really wanted to try to photograph them!

There was some sun but It was so cold today I couldn’t bring myself to leave the backyard.

Tidying up in the greenhouse revealed these lovely primulas

Press L for the full effect! Three shot stitch this one.

I'd checked my sunrise time and arrived no problem, except that while the sky was clear in the main, there was a bank of thick cloud on the horizon in the east. So, the light I wanted wasn't there and standing in the cold wondering how long the sun would take to clear the cloud wasn't making me any warmer.

So, I walked up the river a while, along a path that was an equal mix of snow, mud, puddle and slush. And when I got about a mile further on, some rays started to creep out from behind the cloud. So, I figured it was time to go back and started the return leg.... and then panicked and started running in case I missed the light. On such a poor track my awkward gait (picture a speeding gorilla negotiating a rocky path) soon worked my socks off inside my wellies, which didn't help my mobility. I stood in a swamp of ice and slush standing on one leg trying to put them on again, really not wanting to plunge a bare foot into the freezing soup.

To cap it off, when I got back to the weir, the sun still hadn't fully appeared so I had to wait another ten minutes. Then, when finally setting up the tripod and bending down to my camera bag I realised I'd not given enough thought to my wardrobe and had put on a coat that wasn't very long along with some low riding jeans. I'd also forgotten my belt. All this bending to the to the viewfinder was working those trousers lower and lower. It became my fear, as the sunlight started to fill the scene, that someone in a nearby house would wake, draw their curtains and be dazzled by the light shining off, off... off the cheeks that Europeans don't kiss you on when they greet you.

What a morning view THAT would be.

I just happened to walk right past this lovely view on my way to the grocery store. Since I started this "one year 366 photos"-project I made it a habit to keep my tiny "point-and-shoot" cam in my pocket, and for that I'm glad..!

Well.. I wish I had my DSLR and a tripod, but.. you can't get always get what you want, right? :-)

Edit: What's going on? Suddenly I have 6 (!) photos in Explore. Well.. I can't complain :-)

Day 26

This just reminds me the present moment phylosophy.

The past has gone, and the future is unsure. We only count on the present moment.

So we should just live the moment :)

Happy Monday to all!

Day 26 2015

Taken forThe Weekly Colour challenge "POSTBOX RED"

The Smallest House in Great Britian.

Just over a hundred years ago a tall fisherman left a tiny house on the quayside at Conwy, North Wales because it had been officially declared too small for human habitation

Since then the Conwy house has been visited by thousands of people from all over the world. After the last tennant left, the owner of the property travelled the country measuring tiny houses in order to prove that this was indeed the smallest house in Great Britain, the doors were opened to countless visitors, who came to marvel at the living conditions of yesteryear....

Measuring 72 inches across, 122 inches high and 120 inches deep, the Smallest house was built in the 16th century and lived in until 1900

The last inhabitant was a Conwy fisherman who was six feet three inches!

Inside the smallest house are just two rooms. Downstairs, a settle against the wall doubles as a coal bunker, a water tap behind the stairs and the cooking was done on the open fire. Upstairs there is a narrow bed, dressing table and washstand with a cubby hole for storage
