So I was wandering through the Louvre on my last day in Paris trying to find a good place to take a picture...I took one with the Venus de Milo but I didn't approve of the way it came out, so I settled for using this one of the cieling (and me) even though it's not perfect...
constructive criticism welcome
Day 21
September 20th
Another lovely sunny day, very cheering after the dull weather of the last few days. We walked the dogs with Mike and Sihem, round the back of the village, through the fields. We were followed by a another dog which Mike explained was the mother of his 2 dogs. It had semi adopted them but wasn’t a family dog - it hung around the house and garden but would not be touched. It would go for walks with them but always at a distance. It was quite heavily pregnant again and Mike said he usually tried to give the puppies away to people in the village. One of her other off-spring also tried to come with us on a couple of occasions; this dog wasn’t very old, hardly more than a pup and had been given to some people but they obviously weren’t feeding it and it was in a very poor state and didn’t look like it would survive much longer which was very sad as it seemed like a sweet little dog.
They took us to the house Mike had pointed out so they could check it was ok. Someone had been helping themselves to roof tiles. We walked back through the village.
We lazed away the rest of the day, enjoying the company, the sunshine and not having to drive anywhere.
Later, we picked tomatoes from Mike’s veggie garden and made a vat of spicy tomato and lentil soup which we had with dinner.
We were talking to Mike about life in a small Bulgarian village and mentioned the apparent lack of shops and asked how they coped. We wandered 50 metres up the lane from his house and into what seemed like his neighbour’s garage. It turned out to be a shop of sorts with a few shelves of dried goods, soap, washing powder and bottles of cold beer at a ludicrously cheap price. We sat outside on a bench outside the shop and enjoyed one each. That answered our question in part, as long as you didn’t need something particularly exotic like fish sauce or lemon grass in a hurry!
Day 21
September 20th
The girls left to go skiing today and the house feels empty.
I looked up on the dog walk and saw the beautiful empty sky.
It seemed fitting.

It has been decided (grrrr) that we're to have our office decorated and re-carpeted at work. We've got to move out for a week and have to box everything, and I mean everything, up before hand. I thought it wouldn't take too long and we would maybe need 10-15 boxes (as there are only three of us in our team), but we've filled 50 already and we're still not done! We've also thrown out al least the same amount again....oh I long for a paperless office!
