Spent some time with my new 3DS XL together with Mila. We love Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D. Not really much time or interest to take a picture lol. So when evening came and we enjoyed a brownie while watching tv my moment came...

Day 145/365
Tonight's therapy session was hard. The hardest I've had in awhile I think. It's the first time I've seen SuperTherapist since my last gyno exam, since my trip to the ER. And there was a lot on my mind, a lot in my heart that I needed to talk about. It helped, she helped, but then again she usually does. We talked a lot about the last couple of weeks, about some of the emotional backsteps I've been taking. We talked about dealing with some of the issues that came up after my exam, and about the fears I've been dealing with after my allergic reaction.
It's not so much anything I've done, it's more about the way i've been feeling the last couple weeks. Scared. Sad. Frustrated. After how upset I was at my last Gyno visit, I honestly wondered (for the first time really) if I ever WILL be in a place where I can have a relationship with someone. If I will ever be in a place where I can handle the kind of intimacy that comes with a real and lasting relationship. And the truth is, until last Tuesday I'd always just assumed that someday I would be able to handle it that someday I will reach a point where I can let someone be that close to me-- emotionally and physically. But after last Tuesday, for the first time I actually had the thought that... maybe I've been wrong.
And that made me so sad. To think that that may be something I never move past. I don't want to be alone for ever. I don't want to live my life without having that kind of intimacy with another person. After a tearful session with SuperTherapist I realize of course how unrealistic that is. I know that just because I'm still struggling with this doesn't mean I always will.
I'm a work in progress. Top off all of that with the fear I've been feeling since my trip to the ER and it's been a challenging couple of weeks. But it's going to get better. It is. I believe that. And in the meantime, all this will do is make me stronger, and braver, and wiser too. I deal with all of this now so that I can be better in the future. So that I can be ready someday for all the things I want from my life. Someday all of this will just be... more baggage that I can say is behind me. I can pack it all away and be done with it someday.
Someday this will all just be.. the stuff I survived to get the part of my life that's meant to be. The stuff I survived that made me stronger, and smarter, and braver. The stuff that created ME.
ah, i love the lack of effort in today's picture (haha)
had a purty good memorial day though:
had a lot of fun with a lot of friends down at the good ol' struble trail then headed over to the steamed cow.
you never realize how much your friends mean to you (hi paige!) until you take a step back and focus on everything good about them. im sorry for neglecting you all, but im here to stay and im not going anywhere.
goodnight and God bless.
p.s. 5,000 views! thank you everybody!

Day 145/365
Doors Open Toronto is an annual event where buildings are open to the public to explore and enjoy. I believe the concept started in Europe. This was the 14th year for Toronto.
When Toronto's transit system opened the Bloor line in 1966, they experimented with allowing passengers to travel from the existing Yonge line to the new Bloor line without changing trains. This meant some trains switched to the new line and others didn't. After a six-month trial, they abandoned the idea and lower Bay station has sat largely unused since that time. It's still used for training and testing and also for filming movies, TV and commercials. As part of Doors Open, the lower Bay station was open for viewing. Although not a lot different from the upper station, I still found it interesting to visit. They also had new and old subway cars open.
This is one of the oldest cars still in use. Originally, the seats were vinyl and better matched the orange dividers. The red seats are standard for the Toronto system, but I think they don't look very good with the orange.

Day 145.
I'm not planning any deceptions though! That quote just came to mind when I thought of the web.
This morning was extremely frosty - really very cold indeed and the snow hasn't gone anywhere. No extra though, which is probably a good thing considering all the packed ice it would cover.
There were loads of visible cobwebs this morning and I always think they look so pretty. This one wasn't as intricate as many that I've seen but I liked the colours here - the red-brown of the fence with the green weathering, against the white of of the web.
It almost looks warm, except that I know full well it wasn't!

Finally I have something pleasant to see at work!! The birds are really enjoying this spring weather, and I'm hoping all of the bluebirds will hang around! Lots of dead twigs and stems from winter for nesting materials.
There's gold in that there stream! Panning for the week 22 theme, though not necessarily in the way it was intended when the theme was set!
I've really enjoyed having some time off. Days without schedules and expectations are pure joy to me; I crave time and space the way others covet money and Porsches. But the holidays are over, and tomorrow morning, bright and early, the kids go back to school and I go back to work.
Unfortunately, that transition is stressing me out. When I get stressed, I unconsciously clench my jaw and tense my neck muscles. I usually don't realize I've been doing that until the incipient headache and muscle spasms kick in. Then I have to stop and think: "What am I stressed about? And why is this making me tense up so much?"
It's a good meditation, and along with a hot shower and some Excedrin, it helps me relax and try to understand why my body is girding itself as if for a battle, when -- after all -- it's just life.
So the big news is - I finally got around to making a FACEBOOK PAGE for THE LENSOR. (opens in a new window)
I'll be uploading many many pictures here and my 365 would be uploaded too. This is for people who are lazy to log in to My Flickr or My Photo Blog
All you have to do is hit "Like" on this page and you'll be getting photo updates on your facebook.
See you guys on facebook. Lots of cool stuff there.
Do check out -->
P.S.: Clicking links would open pages in new windows. So go crazy.

May 24, 145/366 (1606/1827)- I saw this young lady putting on her eye mascara using her iPhone on the self-portrait camera mode instead of using a mirror. In some ways it's funny but also a little sad. In recent years teaching high school students I've seen some changes with the advent of "smart phones".
• None of my students wear watches and most can't read an analog clock. Teaching them to read an analog clock is like teaching Roman numerals to them.
• The term "clockwise" means nothing except a command in Photoshop for rotating a photo, but they don't know why it's called clockwise and counter-clockwise.
• Yellow Pages and phonebooks are something we had with our 8-track players on our covered wagons out west.
• Calling the time and temperature girl makes no sense, they have weather alerts (and the tanning factor) programed in the phone.
• They don't even write notes in class anymore, just text.
• Writing a complete sentence with punctuation is a waste of time to them.
• And now it seems mirrors will be a thing of the past?

Day 145: I spent a bit of time decluttering today. I didn't realize I had so many ties.

ALT TITLE:
Nearby is the country they call life.
You will know it by its seriousness.
I love poetry.
Always have, always will.
We're learning about the Sufi mystics in my Islamic Civ class this week, and one of the most important things about them, according to my teacher, is poetry. So, I found the poem while skimming through the poems on the site she sent us to (link attached!) and that's where the title comes from.
There were tons more on the site that I love, and I had a hard time choosing one to use to title this piece.
I had a hard time choosing what to upload today, too!
There's an exhibition & sale on my campus in a few weeks. I'm going to show some of my pottery pieces and photographs, and I'm super psyched, and also really nervous. (Any advice on what pieces to show, I'd be grateful for!)
Today, the sidewalk was strewn with leaves from our many silver-leaf maple trees, and they all had this lovely caramel brown color to them. I gathered a few of my favorites up, and decided to have some fun. (BONUS: I got more work for the show!) The leaves are now on the table, waiting to be immortalized in decoupage glue.
Anyway, be looking for a blog update. I need to do one.

The poem I used here is one by Rainer Marie Rilke, near the bottom of the page.
ODC Theme In the Pink, I had loads of ideas but still not really up to anything too adventurous so I'm afraid we have another flower, this is another from my garden called Delosperma they are very sweet little flowers. I've also added the Sweethear Texture by Kim Klassen.
Thanks for all the support in the last few days, views, faves and comments it really does mean a lot :o)

I like to see my old trusted hometown through the eyes of a tourist. And today I show you the medieval Brunnhöfl ("fountain courtyard"), still largely extand. It’s a romantic part of göss Abbey, a former Benedictine nunnery in Göss, now a part of Leoben in Styria, Austria. After the abbey's dissolution in 1782 the church, now a parish church, was the seat of the short-lived Bishopric of Leoben.

I snapped this on the way home tonight. It was weird being stopped on the road. Saw 3 or 4 cyclist come past, saw one get cut up by some idiot in a car, which was scary. You don't realise how fast the road is until you stop. Watching cyclinst riding in the gutter and getting bullied around just re-enforces my ride in their way technique. If they think they might be able to squeeze past then there is always a stupid one who'll have a go. Best technique seems to be don't let them until they've got plenty of room. Shame, but you kind of have to drive for them. Anyhow, I could rant all day about that.
Rested the cam on the edge of the bridge, propped up with a tiny stone to get the angle right for the 4 second exposure. Provided some light on the bridge with my headtorch for a bit of foreground interest.
Phil.
I know it's not my portrait hehe, it's a book I bought on Sunday. This photo is yesterday's shot, but I didn't have time to upload it. I got an e-mail yesterday in the morning that I'm having interview today for Web Artworker... I had basically 2-3 hours to get prepared cause I work till late :( But I'm gonna do my best... wish me luck <3
