I know this has been done to death but it is something I have wanted to do for a while. It is a bit tricky to do when you live in a city. I thought the beach was a safe spot to pick seeing that there is not much there to catch alight. This was actually so much fun - you should try it!

No, I did not draw those hearts in the sand!

May 25, 2013

So, I've gotten way behind on Flickr again. And, I'm posting out of order in my 365. Haven't chosen my shots or processed anything from the last two days. But, I knew I wanted this one for today.

Have a happy weekend, folks! Happy Memorial Day to USA Flickr folks! I'll try to have a look around later this weekend. Waiting for a rainy day:)

Between 2007 and 2012, Sandhurst House residents campaigned vigorously to tackle the issues of Wolsey Street being abandoned and neglected. Problems included fly-tipping and anti-social behaviour. It was good news that Wolsey Street was finally given the green light for improvement by the local council. The double yellow no parking lines were laid. The lamp post was made to work. Cracked pavements were removed, and tarmac pavement was laid. The council planted three wonderful Tulip Trees. To celebrate the completion of the improvement works, Sandhurst Residents donated a further two Tulip Trees to line the street. Residents opted in to look after the street by weeding, sweeping, and litter picking. They also preserve the five garden pits at the base of the trees.

Yesterday we went to stay at the lovely Coombe Abbey Hotel (just outside Coventry), as part of my delayed office Christmas outing. In the evening we had to get dressed up for the Baron's Banquet.

Much wine and mead was quaffed, much song was sung, and many camp 1980's classics were danced to well into the night. :-)

Thanks to Jon and Jo for letting us all pile into their luxury suite for this shot ;-)

Note to self, 17mm on a 1.6x crop isn't wide enough for this kind of situation... must add that 10-20 to the shopping list again :)

I intended to look at the camera, but something on television grabbed my attention as the timer counted down. I was watching VH-1's Best Week Ever .You might be tired of seeing me in my hoody, but it's my comfy loungewear.

145/365: 2015

Macro Monday theme - technology.

This smartband measures movement/activity, how many calories you burn as well as sleep patterns. It is also supposed to be able to wake you up, at the best time for your body, by gently vibrating. Apparently you can also control music on the phone by tapping on it. Pretty smart technology...possibly a bit too smart for a technophobe like me! I had to get my husband to set it up!

HMM everyone.

A week off! YEAH!

I did 13,000+ nautical miles and over 31 hours in 4 days. I think it's well deserved...

There are around 150-200 White Herons (Kotuku) in New Zealand, making this one of our rarest native species, but I see these far more than more common birds such as Kiwi.

Had quite a busy day (for me, for a Saturday). Got most of the garage cleared out now - just need to find a couple more storage solutions and get a coat of paint on the walls, and my indoor shooting space will be back to its best :)

Oh, the hair has to go aswell... I can't take this 'mid-stage' any more.

Lighting: 580EXII to left of camera (pointing at me), 430EX with red gel further to the left (pointing across at the ivy). Fired with Canon ST-E2.

Yay! two galleries, 3 photo exhibitions - checked! Every time I'm in London I wonder why we don't go to the City more often...

Such a relaxing day, with a long walk along Oxford Street (yup, the busiest street) from Photographer's Gallery, where we enjoyed Deutche Borse Exhibition, and we headed to Somerset House to see Burnt Generation exhibition (and it impressed us big time!) But what's most important it was just the two of us, time together, spent mostly on discussing Klara and how she would like this or that or here or there... :) I think we love her lots :)

Forgot to say: the photo is straight out of camera when it comes to framing :O for once, I'm happy

Too good a find not to upload today. It was a right birthday treat spotting this little guy. I was surprised to find him out and about bang in the middle of the day. The quietness of the lockdown must have him just as confused as we are!

145 :: 365 :: 25th May 2013

+1 in comments.

I love living in London. If you can bear the annoying weather we get, London really is one of the best cities in the world.. especially to live in! I love the crowds, the speed, the vibrancy, the fashion, the location, how everything you could want is either in the city or very close by etc. I even love the moody "rude" people from here :)

Behind me here is the Thames River, the London Eye to the left and the Aquarium/County Hall/Dali museum to the right. What you cant see on the pic is Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament to my left (the pictures right).

May 24th 145/366

I thought I'd start a week of black and white (sepia and duotone included) photos for the Project365. The challenge might do me good as I've been lacking some inspiration lately.

this little goodie arrived in our vege box today. while i have seen these before, it still catches me by surprise when it shows up on our doorstep. was a bit trickier than i would have thought to photograph, but i think this one shows it off well. atleast until the next time.

for a little bit more info on this very cool looking vege, click here.

explored. kinda gave me a chuckle. thanks to you all for your comments and favs. have a fabulous day.

I will be leaving town tomorrow.

I can't believe it.

I am actually leaving California.

Off to Washington ( the state, not DC).

One of my best friends is flying from SF to Seattle and I am flying from LA to Seattle.

From there, we drive to some random little area for a weekend of music.

I haven't been out of Southern California in 3 years.

I haven't been out of California in 7 years.

I haven't had more than 2 days off in a row from work in almost 10 years

( not including being incredibly ill or having a kidney stone or being hit by a bus).

This is terribly exciting for me.

I needed this 3 day weekend away more than nearly anyone I can think of.

This is Suzanne. One of my best friends from High School. She took care of everything; the flight, the concert tickets, a place to stay... everything.

This is where I am going. Hooray for the Sasquatch Festival. Hooray for music. Hooray for me.

I will miss you Flickr folk incredibly. This will be the first time I have left you all since I started the 365 group on 1/1/07...so expect my 365's to be uploaded Monday or Tuesday ( there will be 4 or 5 days worth) as well as a bunch of other miscellaneous crap. Feel free to take the time and catch up on my stream. Feel free to write me. I want to know that I was missed while I was gone. Yes, I need some validation right now. I admit it. I don't want to feel like a Flickr loser when I come back. Don't have too much fun without me while I am gone.

Seriously though. If I come back with no mail, no comments, no faves, no nothing ... I am gonna be a sad redhead...and we don't want that now...do we?

20190525_6226_7D2-93 Late Autumn fog (145/365)

After a full day of fog, it cleared late afternoon for a nice sunset!

This pic was taken at Burnside Park, walking between the rugby fields, where granddaughter Kaylee was playing Rippa Rugby and football fields where her older brother Ethan was playing for FC2011 against another FC2011 team, 40 minutes later.

145/365 -Around the house - Day 145

Before: 1978 Now: 31 years later. Little known fact about me: I swam the 50 yard freestyle in the very first Ohio High School State Girls Swimming Meet in 1978. I placed 9th. This was taken at the District Qualifiers in Keating Natatorium at St. Xavier High School. I placed 4th with a 26.04.
