Before: 1978 Now: 31 years later. Little known fact about me: I swam the 50 yard freestyle in the very first Ohio High School State Girls Swimming Meet in 1978. I placed 9th. This was taken at the District Qualifiers in Keating Natatorium at St. Xavier High School. I placed 4th with a 26.04.

Texas had historic flooding on Memorial day :( Many people lost their homes. It was super crazy. After the storms, this is what the sky looked like. Mammatus clouds are often found after a storm rolls through. We had crazy rising waters and some flooding, and lost power for about 12 hours, but are safe and fine and did not experience anything like those in Houston, Bastrop, Austin or Wimberly.
Mammatus clouds often form on the underside of cumulonimbus clouds, but are sometimes seen underneath other clouds as well. They can appear threatening, but the sinking air required to make these clouds actually indicates weakening of the storm associated with them.
While mammatus clouds usually form beneath weakening thunderstorms, the kinds of thunderstorms that have them at one time contained intense updrafts, which indicates conditions in the area were, and might still be, favorable for severe weather.
Mammatus are pouch-like clouds that protrude down from the bottom of a thunderstorm's anvil cloud. The storm's anvil consists of ice crystals but, as it spreads out at the top of a thunderstorm, some of the ice begins falling and cools the clear air below.
Despite popular misconception, mammatus clouds usually are an indication severe weather has passed and thunderstorms are weakening. They are not a sign that a tornado is about to form.

It was hard shooting today, I went out with a clear vision in my head what I was looking for. After running around town for an hour and shooting I didn't found anything I liked, the flashlight I brought along to help me focus wasn't working properly and the weather was kinf of nasty. Finally I got this shot and I guess I am pretty happy with it

Yes, that is my big toe. And that is the extent of the portion of me that had any desire to take a picture today! I just finished my dinner. I was stuck at the office way too late and spent the whole night cleaning the entire condo which was no easy feat because it was in shit hole condition! But, I have a photo shoot tomorrow and don't want the model to be icked out because the place is such a mess.
And I just realized that my point and shoot was set 1 day ahead which confused me greatly. So I think some of pictures might look as if I took them too late but i can assure you that every shot was on time!

Another go at trying out my ND filters and I think setting off 30 minutes before sunset rather than 5 minutes pays off so I had more time to set up and find a spot.

Fortunately the bank holiday Monday in the UK has turned out to be good weather. Unfortunately we've been working on various documents all afternoon so this was snatched when we ventured out to give the dog a quick walk.

For We're Here - 100 Quotes Project
Yes this is a smartass interpretation of Emerson's quote, but I do love Ralph Waldo Emerson so much!! I have so many favorite quotes that I couldn't choose, so I did something fun. He does, after all, advise us to be silly! So this is me, becoming what I think about all day long...rich, thick, melty chocolate. ;)
Put some zing into your 365! Join We're Here!
Today I pay homage to what some say don't exist. I say, with all the stars out there the chances of life outside of this nearly destroyed planet is crazy, absurd, and frankly a bit naive! Now, some would argue that believing in aliens is a bit like having faith in god. That is an argument/conversation for another time and medium of delivery.
The idea for today came from my search for the movie Paul on DVD. I failed at finding the movie but did solidify today's theme. I wanted to get a person being abducted with a beam of light. Much the same way you see in movies. Now, I don't really believe this would be the way it would happen but my "idea" of an abduction would take a lot more planning.
Now, plenty of people have claimed to be "abducted" yet no one has gotten it on camera! Not to mention that a species that traveled through space would probably only need to abduct a few people in all to gather the info they needed on the human race and that would have happened long before cameras were invented. We aren't that complicated to figure out if you've mastered inter stellar space flight. However, to humor all of you I'll tell you how I think it would go down.
There would be no fancy light beam! There always depicted as being super slow and awe inspiring. I don't think aliens would feel the need to "impress" us with a fancy light show. Instead they would probably land, run out and just kidnap us or possibly procure a box van, speed up to your location, open the door and grab you like any other abduction. Just think about Men in Black, there probably living amongst us! I have a few suspects of my own!
But again, in the interest of keeping it fancy and cool looking, I opted for the super slow, dramatic light beam. seeing that it is in fact a photograph, I'd say it will be the universes slowest beam ever!
For those of you reading this far, either because you like my rants or didn't run the second "god" was mentioned, I'll tell you how I did this shot. Simple… I suspended Shawn by a helicopter with wires which I painted out in Photoshop! The dust was kicked up from the rotors. Pretty simple if you ask me! Thanks to Kyle for finally repaying that favor and putting his license on the line. You are a very bold but equally skilled heli pilot.
Read my blog for a few more interesting facts on todays shoot! including shots of the helicopter. www.204studiosphoto.com/365blogs/day145

First day kids back at school. I've done absolutely nothing, zip all! Apart from cooked dinner when they came home. I had a sickening headache most of the day. I guess it's the stress after the holidays, haha.
I just want life back to normal before the next break hits.. sigh.
Tired beyond belief! I'll make a round later if I can muster up the energy :)
Have a happy baby blue Tuesday!

The three Cunard liners standing abreast opposite the Three Graces in the Mersey while the Red Arrows do a flypast. This was the culmination of the 175th anniversary of Cunard, and it was quite a spectacle watching these three enormous ships manoeuvring in the Mersey.

We now have a small squirrel sanctuary for three set up in the tree outside of our house. It’s arguable whether the squirrels really still need our help. They can climb very well and seem able to take care of themselves now. But the hardest part about being a parent is letting go.

For FGR's Screams of Anguish. Yeah, I'm sitting home, alone with my best friend's cat (catsitting), with curlers in my hair and about 15 anesthesia textbooks open around me with 429 post its stuck to everything and it's Saturday night. So? These facts do not make me a loser. Lots of other things do. ;)
My colleague is writing/compiling a book and he has asked me to contribute a chapter, I am currently working on it. If anyone has any questions about their laparoscopic prostatectomy, please, ask me. ;)
Day 145 If you know The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, you'll understand. If not, go read the book or watch the film. I'm not explaining it.
