Learning how to use DaVinci Resolve to stabilize a hand-held video, and also how to handle the aspect ratio when using an anamorphic lens (Sirui 50mm in this case)
Thanks goes out to Alexis Van Hurkman for helping me to understand the function of the Key Mixer node. Now I'll be using this all the time. :-)
Used a 4x4 ultrabounce floppy to camera right to catch the evening backlight to wrap around her face. Kodak 250D pushed +1 in development by Lumens Photo Lab, and colored in Resolve. Zeiss 50mm at F4.
Here on the red couch, we have spent many hours with clients tweaking finessing and obsessing over little bits of video before its released into the wild. Many laughs, curses and good memories occur here.
When the agency boys and girls are here waiting for clients to return from their dinner and check their emails, producers and art directors pass out here.
Just a bit of fun with animation.
The backdrop is a photo I took at the Mt Lofty Botanic Gardens in South Australia.
All the 3D animated plants and birds are from Microsoft.
I loaded my botanic gardens shot as a background in Power Point. Then I animated the free animated 3D objects within Power Point then saved it as a video file.
I created the 3D animated text in Davinci Resolve (free Version) by watching many tutorials on YouTube.
I assembled all the elements and sound effects in Power director..
The ending scene was created with Power Directors AI image to video generator.
I like how in the last scene the character crashes in and the AI generator had made the log move and also made the leaves move.
I had fun making this corny scene.
The video was taken in 2014 in CUHK (The Chinese University of Hong Kong).
They are shot in Panasonic GH3. The on location environment sound is recorded using Rode Video Mic Pro Stereo.
Post production NLE is Editshare Lightworks. Grading software is Davinci Resolve. The music is Pachelbel's Canon.
Hope you enjoy it.

Love national parks?
There's a holiday for that!
In 2023, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management joined the National Park Service to celebrate all things “parks.”
To highlight the programs and partners that preserve natural and cultural heritage while providing recreational opportunities in places across the country—and even the world-we selected some of our favorite ocean, coastal and national seashores in the National Park System!
Using the 2023 #NationalParkWeek theme of #MyParkStory - we identified 9 parks that be believe embody connection, discovery, accomplishment, tradition, gratitude, ingenuity, inspiration, fun, and love. To capture the essence of these Parks, we launched never-before-seen National Park Tokens (NPTs).
Collect your favorites here! And make sure to share #YourParkStory ️
Not much going on today. Grading day. Main monitor broke down and was sent to be repaired so I had to make do with these midgets...#firstworldproblems
Quadro 4000 card is kicking it real time at HD resolution. The debayering of RED footage is done by the CPU. Definitely a multicore aware app. So happy that I went with a 12 core instead of the higher clock rate of the six core. I have a feeling that debayering is CPU and scaling is GPU. Of course the GPU is also used for effects.

A beautiful and emotional short film I recently completed colour for. Was a pleasure to work on this one. www.instagram.com/p/B-mN1GuJWVo/?igshid=1h0go65prn07d

Primary and three nodes of secondary grades in Davinci Resolve. The primary was just a levels check for proper ranges of shadows and highlights and contrast adjustment. A touch of brightness added to the face with a face tracking Power Window. A color picker was sufficient enough for the dress and curtains.
