Right Jules and Andy, here's my watch entry for the 366 - sorry it took me so long.

As you can see by the time shown on it, the last time I wore it was before the clocks changed!

Well, it is time to take a bit of a break from these. When you start to get a rash on your forehead from wearing a head-torch it is time to have a wee break!! Thanks again to Jules for helping me get so involved in this Physiogram milarky....it is waaay too much fun and insanely addictive.

That may just be the worst weather I have ever taken my camera gear out in. It was not the best of ideas, but I did manage to get 3 shots before the rain got everywhere! This was the best of them I think.

Time to dry off!

Martello Tower

West Coast - Guernsey, C.I.

After spending 10 days without my proper camera gear, it feels so good to be out properly snapping again! It was a nightmare up in Scotland without my tripod, 5DMkII etc etc. Hoping that this week produces some decent conditions to allow me to get back into the swing of things again.

This is one of the many Martello towers that are dotted around the island of Guernsey. They really add to the landscape - love them.

Well here's my entry to tonights physiogram face off... Just came legging it in from the garage after about half hours messing for the 11:45 dead line with my old buddy pikebubbles. Not seen his yet but expecting good things.

Specs:

3 physiograms

3 different camera angles

1 purpled gelled light wafted over some tin foil

1 red EL wire over the lens.

Lens cap on and off a few times.

I love these...I think I'm addicted.

(taken on one exposure, no additions after the exposure. I will adjust levels, saturation, white balance, brightness and some minor cropping if required.)

I just had to light that sucker up!

It is so misty and cloudy tonight sadly, so I am left looking over what I got from last night's shoot. Hopefully the conditions will improve later in the week. Welcome, to the Green Lollipop.

Rembrandt - self portrait as the Apostle.

Having studied his work in various Art Books during my FA Degree at the GSoA, it was a very special experience standing right in front of this masterpiece...

A true genius.

Well, today has been an utterly crazy day. Guernsey has been battered by storms for most of the day: hail / high winds / and the highest tide of the year (10 meters!).

This made for some interesting conditions for photography. I think I had to stop, and start all over again at least 5 times as my equipment (camera and filters) got soaked so many times. It was chaotic, but great fun too.

Bring on more of the same tomorrow :O)

Just as I set up my tripod, Mr G was busy wafting a rainbow across the beach. www.flickr.com/photos/davidgilliver/

This is a converted raw file from my Nikon D5200. I'm curious to see how the master's picture looks, albeit on Flickr, from his Canon 5Dmk3. Biggest change I made was to adjust the white balance because I left the wrong setting from last night.

A brief outing and a warm one too; 22C according to the (sheltered)

car when I returned. Not sure why I bothered with a jumper.

As this 366 project nears its end I just wanted to thank everyone for your support, encouragement, inspiration comments and faves over the last 12 months during what has been a very challenging but at the same time incredibly rewarding challenge. I just want to mention a few people who have been on this journey with me this year who without, I think this would have been a much harder challenge than it has been. Big thanks to ~jules~, pikebubbles, Catch-light, ubiquitous_images you have all been a true inspiration and good friends! Thanks guys!

Merry christmas and a Happy New Year!

It's not often that I arrive home at 3am in the morning, but poker nights can be like that. After being down £75 after the first 2 hours of play, I somehow managed to stumble away £25 up. Result!

This is an old Mirus Control Room left behind from the German Occupation. Quite a place! It is deeep underground and I had to add all the flash work in order to create my own lighting. It was quite an experience being in there for several hours...

As part of the new challenge for the 366 from Pikebubbles - reflections.

It goes with out saying that this was totally inspired by { tcb }

I had already (with luck) ordered a front surface mirror to try and knock up a kalidescope. So as usual leaving myself no time whatsoever to try and build the damn thing I started at 10 tonight by cutting the mirror in half. A load of tape and foam board later it was starting to come to shape.

Its still got a bit of light leak on it in palces but its a start. I also need to perfect the art wafting the torch so as not to shine it into the bloody thing!.

I used some old string an LED, one of the kids curly straws and a quality street wrapper to make the shape thingy.

I've added a boarder, name and 366 number to keep it in line with all my 366 shots but other than that its been converted from RAW and put up here.

It is just crazy how quickly babies change, especially over the first couple of months. I am just so madly in love with her.

Another shot from last night's shoot.

We arrived at the beach just as darkness was falling and I wanted to get a couple of shots off just before it got dark - that's why the Orb is so faint and the sky is so light. I love that period just before it gets properly dark where the last of the light still lingers.
