We went to Whole Foods today to see Dave's current celebrity crush...Lisa Garza, from the Next Food Network Star. She is just a gorgeous in person as she is on tv. Our menu - poached salmon, pearl barley, and roasted veggies. Yum!

Our next trip to Dallas, we have to go to her restaurant!

Dave's Accordion School

Dave Caballero has been teaching accordion for nearly 40 years; his Atwater shop is the beating accordion heart of Los Angeles. On any given day he carries 100 or more accordions of every type and vintage from manufacturers worldwide; in the front window is a workshop where Dave restores and repairs anything from a button-box to a high-tech electronic MIDI accordion. The wall is decorated with photos of the many bands who come to see Dave when on tour, ranging from cabaret acts to alternative rockers to Gogol Bordello, whose musicians have played in these walls.

There is a love story here, too. Veronika was his student. Then they they married. Now they have grandchildren. Veronika teaches tap, violin and accordion.
