Discovered in 1977, excavated until 1984.
The first phase of the small Roman villa rustica dates to the early 1st c. BCE, with subsequent modifications in the Augustan and Julio-Claudian periods (late 1st c. BCE-1st half 1st c. CE). Part of its courtyard is given over to 18 dolia for the aging of wine (cella vinaria). The triclinium (IV) is decorated in early Pompeian Fourth Style painting. Like many structures at Pompeii and the vicinity, the Villa Regina was undergoing construction work when Vesuvius erupted in 79 CE.
The walls (partially restored by modern archaeologists) are of opus incertum using a variety of local stone materials.

Dates and kick off times have now been confirmed for the Premier League Cup Group games involving Burnley.The Clarets U23s, who defeated Bournemouth and Watford in qualifying for the group stages, have been paired with Blackburn Rovers, Sunderland and Cardiff City. The group now involves home and away fixtures against each team, with the top two in the eight groups progressing to the knock-out stages. In Ascona werden die Gassen und die Seepromenade dieses Jahr von den mitreissenden Musikern des New Orleans Jazz Orchestra belebt, welche während 10 Tagen als Special Guests in Ascona bleiben. Without the brass band parades, the New Orleans Experience of JazzAscona would be incomplete; the brass bands and their parades are in fact an intrinsic part of the culture and life of The Crescent City. This year it’ll be the artists of the exceptional New Orleans Jazz Orchestra, special guests throughout the festival. The band members will also be on stage in an array of combinations. Let yourself be surprised!
The screen dates from 1400 - 1450
Coloured and gilt, it once had the rood figures of St Mary and St John standing over it on either side of the crucifix . The arches on either side show where the supports were fixed. The vaulting on the screen is perfect and the corner enrichments are very fine. Most of the screen , as well as the parclose screen dividing the chapels from the chancel are original.
The original panels however were replaced in the "restoration" of 1871 when sheets of metal were inserted and new figures painted on them by Mrs Pendarves of Tristford who restored the cornice . The faces painted on the central gates are alleged to have been based on the daughters of a former Vicar.
