Developed for GE's Healthymagination data visualization forum, we take a realtime look at the discussions happening on Twitter around the topic of breast cancer. Tweets from all over the world are aggregated in a single location, allowing visitors to quickly understand the current topics, trends, and stories.
Visitors can sort the tweets to reveal the top five most popular topics appearing in the last 1,500 tweets. Within each topic is listed the three most commonly used words. Through this sorting, visitors can easily get an understanding of the major discussion threads, as well as explore each related tweet in detail.
In addition to sorting tweets by topics, visitors can explore the most common news stories referenced in the tweets, explore the individuals who are tweeting the most, or log into Twitter directly and add to the discussion.

A robot arm that shoots ping pong balls at a miniature basketball hoop. The arm rotates to aim based on the closing price of the stock market for the 104 weeks of 2008-9. If the market price rose, the arm rotates proportionally clockwise, if the price fell, it rotates counterclockwise.

After watching a few of the Republican Primary debates we were compelled to try to make sense of what everyone was actually saying. To do this, we decided to take a look at the words that were most often spoken during the debate, and then map to them to both the major issues, as well as the candidates from which they came.
The result is a pleasant little tool that allows you to draw connections in ways that watching in realtime, or reading a transcript, might not reveal.
This is our Beta release of Politilines. In future releases we hope to add context for the frequency of the words spoken by each candidate, an analysis of the word's intent, the ability to remove candidates or words, and a way to explore the most common words and issues in all of the debates.

This is a polar plot of heading and velocity. The closer to the outside edge of the plot the faster; the center is stopped. The point's direction is around the circle according to the labels.
You can see heavy preference for cardinal directions because Portland's roads are on a grid!
