FEMA Flood Maps: Better Planning and Analysis Needed to Address Current and Future Flood Hazards

Note: FEMA also includes its "Changes Since Last Flood Insurance Rate Maps" product in the Flood Risk Database. However, for the purposes of this report, we did not classify Changes Since Last FIRMs as a nonregulatory product because it is only provided to communities for one-time use when they receive a new FIRM to highlight the changes made to the regulatory floodplain and floodway boundaries during a flood mapping update or revision. The other nonregulatory products are developed for continual use.

In the 80s and 90s, I wore a Casio Telememo 30 Database watch. When they first came out, they cost about $70. This Casio Telememo 30 Database watch could be considered as one of the first smartwatches. Not only did it have the usual function of telling time, but it also had a stopwatch, a calendar and space to store phone numbers/fax numbers.

This one is actually one of the later versions of these watches, and it has an indiglow style backlit screen. I also had an earlier version of this watch, which was the World Time watch, which had the same functions, but stored 10 less entries, and used a front light. I bought this one when the watch band on the old one broke.

Nowadays, we don't store information on our watches, we store them on our cellphones or PDAs. While in college, I upgraded to a Swatch, and this watch was my backup until it ran out of battery. When I did that, I put it aside into a box, and was rather surprised when I opened the box one day and found that the watch band had completely disintegrated.

Here is an example of what the .SQL file will look like in a text editor.

The building society, with which we administer several accounts, has decided to communicate to all of its customers the changes in protection for monies deposited with them.

That was very kind of them and of course most welcome.

However, their action meant we received seven letters telling us the exact same thing, all in separate envelopes, each posted to our address in Spain by airmail.

Now I am no expert on databases but my shaky knowledge tells me that it should have been possible to send one letter to cover all of the accounts. If I am correct, a relatively simple query would have amalgamated the accounts in our names and address together.

That would have saved the building society a lot of paper and a lot of postage all of which were paid for by us, the customers. Bearing in mind that we will not be the only customers with more than one account and more than one account holder, I dread to think how many letters were sent in total.

PS If they don't know how to do this, I know a man (or two) who could help them!

CAMeC ospita DATABASE - Project Room Scultura - 1 Luglio 2014 – 14 Gennaio 2015 | CAMeC – Centro di Arte Moderna e Contemporanea, La Spezia

The Real Jardín Botánico de Madrid (Spanish for Royal Botanical Garden of Madrid) is an 8 hectares (19.7684 acres) botanical garden in Madrid, Spain. It is located next to the Prado Museum.

The garden was founded on October 17, 1755, by King Ferdinand VI, and installed in the Orchard of Migas Calientes, near what today is called Puerta de Hierro, on the banks of the Manzanares River. It contained more than 2,000 plants collected by José Quer y Martínez, botanist and surgeon.

Today's garden is divided into seven major outdoor sections and five greenhouses which allow the cultivation of species which are not suited to Madrid's Continental Mediterranean climate. Total collections include about 90,000 plants and flowers, and 1,500 trees.

Terraza de los Cuadros – collections of ornamental plants, medicinal, aromatic, endemic and orchard gathered around a small fountain. All are planted in box-edged plots. At its southwestern end is a Japanese garden.

Terraza de las Escuelas Botánicas – a taxonomic collection of plants, ordered phylogenetically and set within plots about 12 small fountains.

Terraza del Plano de la Flor – a diverse collection of trees and shrubs, as designed in the mid-nineteenth century in the romantic English style. It contains the Villanueva Pavilion, built in 1781 as a greenhouse, and a pond with bust of Carl Linnaeus.

The garden's two greenhouses are divided into four rooms. The Graëlls greenhouse dates from the nineteenth century and exhibits tropical plants and bryophytes. The newer structure supports three climates: tropical, temperate, and desert.

Herbarium

The herbarium is the largest in Spain and now contains over a million specimens from around the world. The oldest material consists of plants collected during scientific expeditions undertaken in the 18th and 19th centuries.

As at 2016 the online herbarium's databases currently contain detailed information about all the specimens in the algae, bryophyte, lichen and fungi collections.

The Alexandra Fountain ... was designed by prolific local architect, William Vahland and constructed by local craftsmen. The fountain was built from the [surplus] proceeds of the Bendigo Juvenile Industrial Exhibition of 1879, a 500 pound gift from George Lansell the 'Quartz King' of Victoria, and 700 pounds from the Sandhurst City Council. It was named after Alexandra, Princess of Wales, whose sons, Princes Albert and George, attended the opening ceremony on 5 July 1881. ...

The fountain is constructed from 20 tonnes of highly polished Harcourt granite, cast iron and painted stone. It is 28ft high, and includes an urn in a top basin, with lion head spouts, on a pedestal flanked by four female allegorical figures in white. They stand on painted base featuring four ornate ribs surmounted by four bronzed spouting mer-horses with spouting dolphin figures above and the panels between feature bronzed sea-themed medallions composed of seashells, dolphins and tridents. The main fountain sits in a 2ft deep circular pool 50ft in diameter. The pool is surrounded by a low decorative cast-iron fence, and features four integral cast-iron lamps with bases featuring dolphins, set on granite plinths. - vhd.heritage.vic.gov.au/search/nattrust_result_detail/68184
