the acknowledgments page for a talk by Stephanie Forrest, Santa Fe Institute Research Professor. It included the notion of a negative database, listing the (usually magnitudes-times larger) database of everything *not* in the target db. If you can figure out a way to compress and represent that efficiently, you have an excellent way to allow queries for certain kinds of security information without revealing what you know..... interesting implications.

A panel of state government, consumer advocate and industry representatives begin discussion on the creation of a publicly searchable database during the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's public database workshop.

Artprice puts the Etienne Perrone documentary online: “Artprice or the art market revolution”

This 23-minute documentary in HD format describes the extraordinary human adventure of the birth in France of the world leader in art market information, Artprice, which grew out of a twenty year search for perfection in a global quest to make an Alexandrian library available to the world on Internet. Today Artprice owns 360,000 books, documents and art manuscripts dating back to the 17th century. Referring to the documentary, Thierry Ehrmann said "Film-maker Etienne Perrone has captured the real added-value that Artprice has contributed to Art history. No other company in the world has given itself the objective of standardising the art market". This documentary shows the hundreds of thousands of work-hours by historians and scientists who year after year enrich the largest art market database in the world. Artprice, according to its founder, “is only at 10% of its history”. The film was made in collaboration with the managers and personnel that have constituted Artprice and Groupe Serveur every day since 1987".

All is set up and ready to work.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

*Changes in the Website, like colors or styles will be done by written request and only once FOR FREE after your purchase. Additional changes or additions might require an additional fee.

*Because the website it's uploaded on a free hosting:

- The Header logo on the website can only be changed by written request to this store including the image you would like to use (again, this will be done once FOR FREE after your purchase).

- XCODE store can't and won't take responsibility for any issues related to the hosting service. The PDA and Titlers system:

With the PDA (Owner) version, you will be the only one capable of giving "admin rights" to your officers.

Officers with "admin rights" will be allowed to add, remove, or edit officers' information from the database. This means they can hire people and manage your prison, jail or PD.

Officers without "admin rights" will only be allowed to add, release or edit inmates' files.

The Titler brings real-time information from the database, and it applies RLV restrictions on inmates. They won't be able to leave the prison or accept TPs from anyone who's not registered as an officer.

It also stores 'Record' files. It allows you to suspend officers for X amount of days. It allows you to asign officers to the Police, Prison, Fire Depatment, Justice system, etc. It shows you directly on the PDA screen how many inmates do you have at the time and how many of them are awaiting trial, etc, etc.....

To reduce lag it is necessary to click on the Titler object to update its information.

This image shows the latest 96.000 emotions stored on Art is Open Source's database, expressed by people on global social networks (Twitter, Facebool, Youtube, Flickr) in one of 29 languages, across 71 nations from December 15th 2011 to January 16th 2012.

This info-aesthetic is a part of the installation, displayed under the form of a generative video.

About:

Human beings continuously mutate. Over the last few years, this transformation has taken place at incredibly high speeds, mostly thanks to the wide and ubiquitous availability of digital networks and devices.

This changed the ways in which we work, learn, relate, consume, communicate, love.

"Enlarge Your Consciousness in 4 Days 4 Free!" uses people’s real time emotional expressions on social networks to animate a physical installation.

The emotions of millions of users on social networks such as Twitter, Facebook, Flickr and FourSquare are harvested in real time (using open available APIs and techniques such as Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning) and used to give life to physical manifestations and info-aesthetic visualizations.

The project is the result of a wonderful collaboration between Salvatore Iaconesi / Oriana Persico (Art is Open Source) and Lara Mezzapelle / Giacomo Deriu.

"Enlarge Your Consciousness in 4 Days 4 Free!" was officially launched at BT’F Contemporary Art Gallery Friday, January 27th 2012, as an official initiative of Arte Fiera OFF.

GOALS FOR THE FUTURE

Achieving the goals listed below in the future will depend entirely on the voluntary support of the group members and perhaps the wider support of the botanical community.

Without that support all I can do is maintain the current staus quo.

If you think the ideas listed below have merit and are willing to take on role in looking after a particular project then please contact me via my profile.

If you have other suggestions please let me know.

1. Update and maintain the current hyperlinked SCIENTIFIC NAMES DATABASE- AUSTRALIAN RAINFOREST PLANTS and FUNGI to include North Queensland and Tasmanian species. This may not be as big a task as it appears and it would need a team of individuals working to create a complete list of Australian Rainforest species. I already have a rudimentary list which someone with Word,Excel or Access skills could easily merge.I think creating the hyperlinks can be done fairly simply.

2. Update the current hyperlinked Plant Family Database. This is just a matter of listing all the currently accepted plant families associated with Australian Rainforest plants.

3.Help with tagging older images in the pool with Rainforest Type ,Flower Colour and Fruit Colour Tags

4. Increase the number of Botanical Advisors. If you are willing to help with ID's and help scrutinise pool entries please let me know.

Special thanks to the current Botanical Advisors who regularly scan the 2bid tags list and offer firm or suggested ID's.

5. Initiate an invite code which allows members to invite images they may see while browsing Flickr.

I have tried without success to do this so would welcome any help.

6. Someone to moderate images Fungi images submitted to the group.

7. Someone to moderate Orchidaceae images submitted to the group.

8. Someone to moderate Bryophyte images submitted to the group.

9. Look into means by which we can establish relationships with some of the major online International and Australian Flora Databases

Other suggestions are welcomed whether you are able to assist or not. Just let me know and I will add them to the list.

Thanks

BDI

In the 80s and 90s, I wore a Casio Telememo 30 Database watch. When they first came out, they cost about $70. This Casio Telememo 30 Database watch could be considered as one of the first smartwatches. Not only did it have the usual function of telling time, but it also had a stopwatch, a calendar and space to store phone numbers/fax numbers.

This one is actually one of the later versions of these watches, and it has an indiglow style backlit screen. I also had an earlier version of this watch, which was the World Time watch, which had the same functions, but stored 10 less entries, and used a front light. I bought this one when the watch band on the old one broke.

Nowadays, we don't store information on our watches, we store them on our cellphones or PDAs. While in college, I upgraded to a Swatch, and this watch was my backup until it ran out of battery. When I did that, I put it aside into a box, and was rather surprised when I opened the box one day and found that the watch band had completely disintegrated.

I love mapping things. I used to be much better at it; neater, with the squared paper and the coloured pencils.

I missed off all the tables we never really use. :-}

In grateful remembrance of those who gave their lives in the service of their country in the Great War, 1914-1919

Richard Bydder -- Not in CWGC database. However, there is a gravestone in the old churchyard at Kingston for Richard St George Bydder, master mariner, died 18 July 1920, aged 52. Also, the Western Daily Press, 7 March 1903, p. 8 reported that "The Norwegian Government has awarded a binocular glass to John Prance, master; a silver medal and diploma for Richard Bydder, mate; and Jan de Vries, Edward Mariner, Oscar Johnson, and John Lazenby, of the Newport steamer Alassio, as a recompense for their services to the crew of the the Norwegian barque Paragon, of Rusoer [Risør?], which had to be abandoned in the Bay of Biscay during the equinoctial gales of last autumn." The presentation was made at Hull, and another report appeared in the Hull Daily Mail of 17 March 1903.

The building society, with which we administer several accounts, has decided to communicate to all of its customers the changes in protection for monies deposited with them.

That was very kind of them and of course most welcome.

However, their action meant we received seven letters telling us the exact same thing, all in separate envelopes, each posted to our address in Spain by airmail.

Now I am no expert on databases but my shaky knowledge tells me that it should have been possible to send one letter to cover all of the accounts. If I am correct, a relatively simple query would have amalgamated the accounts in our names and address together.

That would have saved the building society a lot of paper and a lot of postage all of which were paid for by us, the customers. Bearing in mind that we will not be the only customers with more than one account and more than one account holder, I dread to think how many letters were sent in total.

PS If they don't know how to do this, I know a man (or two) who could help them!

C-3PO felt that Uncle Owen wasn't using him to his full potential.

"Yes i know what i said about the binary language of moisture vaparators, but for now, this takes priority".

C-3PO was also a little confused about the new nickname Uncle Owen had given him......

Although fluent in over 6 million forms of communication, C-3PO could find no trace of "Barista" in his databases!
