52 Week photo project

This weeks theme: Favorite Drink

Leading up to #LGM2014 I communicated a bunch with Tobias (who convinced me that a photowalk would be a good idea, btw - that was all his idea) about doing a workshop where we could highlight and summarize darktable along with other things in a photographic workflow.

I can honestly say that one of the highlights of my trip was being able to hang out and get to know the darktable crew. These are some seriously nice (and funny!) guys that were an absolute pleasure to get to know better.

This is actually the last image I took at Leipzig during LGM. My wife had the idea in her head that it would be funny to get a shot of them in the style of the "Queen II" album cover (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Queen_II.jpg). So here's the final result!

Believe me, this is even funnier if you know them...

PC, in game photo mode, Darktable.

I set the small Godox manual flash to the side on an old light stand. The setting was 1/4. That's the brightest setting on it. I also used the included diffuser. I triggered it with the Godex XI N mounted on the hot shoe of my Nikon. Post processing included a slight crop and a slight contrast adjustment. Less is more, sometimes.

This weeks theme: E is for . . .

This set is this years snow pictures. We made quick trip to Waukon and back on Feb 7th. Enjoy the road. There may be a mix of B&Ws in this set (I'm experimenting where it fits the scene).
