Not far from the central trainstation you find this famous houses at a small harbour called Damrak. Lots of boattours start here and the typical Amsterdam dollhouses are lit beautifully at night. Hard to find a spot with an open view on them, the boats are in the way always. After running around looking for a clear composition, I just included them as leading lines. Could have removed the trash swimming on the surface in post production, but that's just how it is.
By the way, there was no mistake when aligning, the houses are really as crooked as in the picture :-))
I took this photograph at about 8am while it was warming itself up in the morning sunshine among the dew-soaked grass in the North Yorks Moors. The Dark Green Fritillary is the commonest and most widespread of our eight resident fritillaries in Britain, but they are still not what I would call a common butterfly. And they can be infuriatingly difficult to photograph, rarely settling, and when they do it is often deep among the grass. The scientific name aglaja was one of the three Graces who personified elegance and beauty. Interestingly the other two Graces (Euphrosyne and Athalia) had British fritillaries named after them too. The generic name Argynnis comes from Argynnus, a lady beloved by Agammemnon, who built a temple in her honour after she died. Aphrodite (Venus) was worshipped here, so Argynnis came to be used as an epithet for Aphrodite.
The original name was Darkned (sic) Green Fritillary, showing it was the butterfly that was dark, rather than the shade of green on the underwings. That's why the name doesn't have a hyphen like most fritillaries.
On our way to the Loire castles we spent a few hours in Besancon. Fortunately the rain stoped for a few minutes and gave us time to set up the tripod and take a few night shots like this one.
Hace poco vi un cartel de la nueva película de Angelina Jolie (Salt), el contraste del rostro con el negro del fondo me inspiró y decidí hacer algo parecido en un retrato suyo, este transmite mas dulzura....
I recently saw a poster for the new film by Angelina Jolie (Salt), the contrast of the face with a black background inspired me and I decided to do something similar in a portrait of him, this conveys more sweetness ....

I guess this can express many kinds of emotions. So instead of calling it something with despair or wishfulness, I think this title cover it all.
_____________
because we need to be brave for being patient
the bravery of listening to our instincts and let them chll out
the bravery of listening to the others and to reflect on their words
the bravery of waiting, when needed, even though the waiting may be long, and the waiting room may be cold, and we may feel the urge to rise up and run away, shouting our rage, before darknes surrounds us

while everything else
darknes and twists,
plastic in the fire.

Where the pine needles pile up to form a small, almost lightless cave in the middle of a bright day, that's where I can find you. Perhaps the most shy owl in our area and one of the least known, the long-eared owl (Asio otus).
Every neighborhood that I have resided in since I was a kid had at least one house that was considered "haunted." Well, the neighborhood of my retirement doesn't have a haunted house. We have a "Hobbit House" as the kids refer to it.
It is overgrown with vines that eventually sprout with new leaves, and when Fall comes, leaves the house covered in brown vines lending an eerie feeling to the place especially at night.. So I was rather surprised one moonlit evening to see a splash of color by the Hobbit House and I went outside to investigate.
The contrast between the house and the bright colors of lawn furniture, umbrella and other yard pieces were quite a contrast to the house that hides behind darkned windows and vines.
