Today is the first day of meteorological spring, you wouldn't know it from the weather!.

I'm going to try to post some more photos on Flickr as the weather improves. My pro account was coming to and end and I was debating whether to renew it, but I decided I would (and was offered a 20% discount). So I'm on here for another 2 years!

(from apod.nasa.gov) Dark Clouds in Aquila

Image Credit & Copyright: Adam Block, Mt. Lemmon SkyCenter, University of Arizona

Explanation: Part of a dark expanse that splits the crowded plane of our Milky Way galaxy, the Aquila Rift arcs through the northern hemisphere's summer skies near bright star Altair and the Summer Triangle In silhouette against the Milky Way's faint starlight, its dusty molecular clouds likely contain raw material to form hundreds of thousands of stars and astronomers eagerly search the clouds for telltale signs of star birth. This telescopic close-up looks toward the region at a fragmented Aquila dark cloud complex identified as LDN 673, stretching across a field of view slightly wider than the full moon. In the scene, visible indications of energetic outflows associated with young stars include the small red tinted nebulosity RNO 109 at top left and Herbig-Haro object HH32 above and right of center. The dark clouds in Aquila are estimated to be some 600 light-years away. At that distance, this field of view spans about 7 light-years.

Kids! Dying in this endless oil-war is totally "Da Bomb"!!

Thank you for your favourites. :O)

The way the sky looks under a tornado warning.

May 4th, 2012 - Northern Buffalo County Nebraska US

I Seriously, wasn't going to go out this night... Had a weeks worth of hell, and I really just wanted to do was get off work and go home. I was tired, I was cranky, it was the first weekend I've had off in a Month...

As soon as I pulled into the driveway @home, I could hear the weather radio going off and my storm capturing sensation came over me. Listening to the bullitins coming over the radio and I Freaked!. The storms were closer than I had thought. NWS just put warnings for Northern Buffalo County for super fast development of strong to potentially super severe, with large hail, and possible Tornadoes.

Photography Chance of a lifetime... Even though someone could cast me as a member of the Walking Dead....I was a trooper and I didn't wimp out! Luckily I had the my camera on the charger... Grabbed all my equipment & I hauled A** North... 20 mins later I found myself in the perfect spot, under the perfect conditions!

Cresting over northern Buffalo County, ready to cross between Pleasanton & Ravenna Nebraska, this cell was rapidly building and already had tornado warning on it. Incredible CG lightning in front of the storm cell was just to good to capture, with lighting firing off every few seconds.

Dark Clouds After the Rain In Front of Rhodes Junior High School, Mesa Arizona

storrow drive, bike path

this is the säli schlössli

- seen from a few steps

from my home --- its a

nice restaurant with great view

for some years it was owned by

anton mosimann ( London ) and

was called chateau mosimann -

his club idea failed in switz -

Larger

Anna, who is also in the Scottish Clan, but that was Saturday and on Sunday she went back to work.

The scene looked a little surreal, the clouds were pretty dark, but the sky in the back was clear and the sun was shinning, giving a really high contrast to the whole scene. If you look carefully, you can see a rainbow too.

Just one of those days! #cold #darkclouds #bmw

May 3, 2012 - Kearney Nebraska US

Storms were to develop early afternoon but the dry line stalled. Late afternoon into mid evening the dry line pushed just to the west of our location.

With unusually humid conditions for this time of year in South Central Nebraska, this produced the perfect conditions for supercells to develop just to the southwest & west of Kearney Nebraska.

Rarely do we get to see the full development from nothing to a full fledged supercell and this one had fast development resulting in some of my best storm photography for 2012

Typical May evening in Nebraska. High humidity and warm temps were returning to the plains.

Cells were to form to the west north west of Kearney that evening. We had a few rogue storm cells, small but were building and shooting off just a ton on cloud to cloud lightning just to the north of my location.

Trying to get out of the city lights, so I could get some long exposure without all that ambient light. Found a little notch along the highway, and parked. OK, not the best with they power lines in the frame, I know I could photoshop these out but I think it helps give depth.
