Part of the woodlands surrounding The Lady’s Walk, Montacute, Somerset, covered in bluebells in April. The woodlands belong to the National Trust, who manage them to encourage wildlife. In Spring the woodland is full of birdsong. It is also home to foxes, badgers and roe deer as well as smaller mammals.
Taken yesterday morning when it was bright and sunny. Unlike today where the blanket of grey cloud has returned.
Taken in the beautiful Provençal village of Tourtour. With added texture (again!). Spot the two artists/painters to the right of the photo. I particularly like the dappled light which has shown up in one or two of my photos over the past months
Every photo outing doesn’t have to lead to an exotic location it can be as simple as taking a ride as the day unwinds. As a child my dad would say let’s go for a ride there was no particular destination sometimes we would roam country roads, others we’d stop by one of his buddies place to say hello then still others we would end up at the soft serve ice cream stand. The day I saw this stand of trees with light low in the sky I was just out for a ride with no destination no expectation but what a treat seeing the tree trunks kissed by golden light.

Finally my bleeding hearts are here .... Pushing their way up through the undergrowth towards the morning light was truly worth, getting out my camera!
first time hiking this trail in the woods - HTMT!
During the pandemic, my sister and her husband have been on a hunt to find MD's biggest/tallest trees (using a list put out by the state). Several ones listed are in Garrett County, and they were able to check many off their list. This Black Cherry in Herrington Manor was one of them.
We bought this lovely sculpture quite a few years ago on one of our trips to Canberra. Alas the antique shop has long gone.
I knew that I would post my last pick on May 18th when I took it and I did a lot of research for the days leading up to SH's explosion and seeing all that beauty blasted away in seconds reminds of how glad I am to be living here in this time while Rainier is in it's prime. Breathtaking beauty everywhere you look and sometimes you don't have to look too hard, just wait for the light. :-) Absolutely must be viewed large, that means you too Franky! :-)
I THINK that I caught up with everyone after having been gone for days, if not let me know.
glides under the Rialto Bridge.
In January, many Gondoliers are wrapped up warm in padded jackets and beanie hats. It was wonderful to see this stoical one with his traditional stripped shirt and boater as he glided under the Rialto Bridge.
I've been spending more time with Foxes recently due to working away. I really have to give thanks to Tanya for letting me know about them. It's a great way to spend an evening!
Not a lot of sun today but I managed to catch a bit behind a Globe Artichoke...it must have been at least 8ft tall!
....sheep in a field in the South Downs National Park - gently rolling hills, trees budding in new green leaf, and sunshine
thank you for all visits, faves and comments, much appreciated
Deep in the forest, with very little light, I shot this at ISO 3200. Experimented with DXO Deep Prime for noise reduction and was blown away with how good a job it did at removing the noise in this image.

Although a non-native, azaleas provide a beautiful show at our Hunter Region Botanic Gardens.
This shrub, together with many related companions, were in a shady glade and I was taken by the contrast of the bright white blooms against the darker foliage and dappled light.

We visited Villecroze this morning to see the vet with Bob (routine, nothing serious) and after almost a week of heavy rain the skies were blue and it was a glorious start to the Easter weekend.
I took this from the top of the Sass Pordoi ( 2950 metres above sea level ) which is part of the Sella Massif group of mountains in the Dolomites, the little town in the distance is Colfosco. The dappled light on the rocks , scree and snow was created by the clouds moving slowly in the light wind.
