Hastings pier suffered extensive fire damage during the early hours of the morning on October 5th 2010. The fire, believed to be started by arsonists, quickly engulfed the pier causing 95% damage to the piers structure. HPWRT aims to restore the structure, and incorporate a new visitor centre. The one building that survived the fire, the Western Pavilion, will become a restaurant and bar.
