I'm feeling happy at home so I'm doing a little dance for joy. Let's lift those blue pumps from the floor, twist and turn a bit and make that soft satin nightdress swing and sway around my body.

The SEO's were showing well this afternoon at Portland..... I think there was a bit of love in the air too. This pair were doing the courting dance for a good 5 minutes, doing some strange wing clapping too. Great to see on a beautifully sunny afternoon, although they were a tad distant. The weather made for a nice change!

SPENCER: Hi Tuesday friends! Guess what! Guess what!!!! The paw doctor and the fizzy therapist have said that my mummy can start dancing again!!!! She was so so SO happy, and I was very very happy too, because she had been sad and missing dance and now she is feeling better. She says that the first classes were difficult and that it will take time before she can dance as well as before but that it is normal and she has to be patient. Of course I went with her to support her! I put on a pretty purple tutu and I took all my dance shoes in a pretty bag and I even put on the ouchy pointe shoes but just for the picture because they really hurt your paws and I think that the little ballerinas who dance with these shoes are very brave. We are going again tonight and tomorrow. Isn't it WONDERFUL??!!!

Christian Dedeene, he was for 5 years a solo and star dancer with one of the greatest choreographers of the century 20th , Maurice Bejart. I was fortunate to have him in our studio a couple of times, and what an experience it was, each time.
Thanks Christian, for being so patient and sharing my artistic vision.
This is the result of having a professional ballet dancer in the studio, up for a challenge and something different.
How do you capture the graceful, often powerful movement and action with such a static medium?
And challenging it was, as ballet dancers need to be able to fix on a point to execute the figures correctly and land on the same spot.
This image is taken in a completely dark studio. Technically challenging though it is, the results always thrill me.
We had tremendous fun and are happy with the results.
This has been achieved by strobe flashing.
NO DIGITAL MANIPULATION. ONE SINGLE EXPOSURE, ONE NEG. Taken on Hasselblad and black &white film!
Modern photographic stroboscopy in its simplest form is a method whereby a subject in motion is lit by repeating flashes of light while the shutter of the camera remains open for a period of time long enough to capture the subject in multiple locations during the time of exposure...
Not as many now seem to think, just using FLASH!
