Pieter the Younger contiued the traditoin favored by his father, Pieter Brueghel the Elder, of painting crude, caricatured peasant scenes.
"Peasant Wedding" mocks the behavior of peasants during a marriage feast. They are drinking, dancing, flirting and some family members are even fighting over a money pouch.

Taken in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia. Yet another festival in the city. This time it's the IV Festival de Artes Escenicas del Caribe. The opening performance was free and featured dancers from Unilibre de Cali (shown here) performing with La Compania de Danza Afro-Contemprtanea Periferia, Grupo Bahia Trio and part of the music by Cantadores Tradicionales del Pacifico.
The performance was outstanding. I am not a huge fan of dance, but the blend of modern and traditional music, alternating traditional and modern dance and the extraordinary athleticism of the performers was truly amazing.
I deliberately used a slow shutter speed to try to convey motion, but at the same time I tried to get some part of the composition frozen correctly in order to give the eye a decent reference point. Had to throw away a lot of shots though.

RURUTU
Rurutu is een eiland in de Stille Oceaan dat deel uitmaakt van de Australeilanden (Frans-Polynesië). Rurutu ligt ongeveer 572 kilometer ten zuiden van Tahiti. Hoogste punt van het eiland is Mont Manureva, die 385 meter hoog is. Er zijn drie dorpen: Moerai, Hauti en Avera. James Cook ontdekte het eiland in 1769.
Rurutu is the northernmost island in the Austral archipelago of French Polynesia, and the name of a commune consisting solely of that island. It is situated 572 km (355 mi) south of Tahiti.
