Will never forget how enjoyable it was photographing 747 classics in Hong Kong back then. Atlas operated a sizeable number of -200 freighters.
This plane, ex-Thai Airways, was written off after damage from loose cargo.
Location: Berlin - 2174km from home.
Spotting Portuguese bike plates is a pretty rare thing to do in Berlin. I spotted this one while chasing another bike. These Portuguese plates look extremely meh, with this particual one being even damaged.
A bit scraggly but still magnificent!
The Owl (Caligo memnon) is a butterfly of the Nymphalidae family. It is also known as the Pale or Giant Owl butterfly. The species can be found in the rainforests and secondary forests of Mexico down to the Amazon rainforest.
The wingspan is usually from 115 to 130 mm, but can reach 150 mm. The larvae feed on Musa and Heliconia species and can be a pest for banana cultivation. Adults feed on juices of ripe fruit.

At first I thought this flower was showing a bit of wear because it was past its prime. Then I realized that close proximity to sharp thorns and inevitable winds have taken their toll.

Tuesday, May 1st of 2018 started off with a moderate risk for severe storms being issued for much of western Kansas and the National Weather Service was right to issue such a warning. Later on in the afternoon and evening discrete storms began to fire off all along the dry line and many of them produced large hail, damaging straight line winds, and even tornadoes, like this storm near Tescott, Kansas. This storm began spinning hours before but didn't produce a tornado until around 7:45 pm. it initially took the form of a cone but within minutes grew into a massive wedge tornado that raced across the landscape. Here is an image of it in its final form before becoming wrapped in rain.
When entering Nassau, The Bahamas, I noticed this house that appeared to have been damaged by a hurricane.
The photo was taken from the deck of the Carnival Liberty.
Damaged from crashing into the San Francisco Ferry Building, the ferryboat San Francisco is towed to Larkspur Landing.
This is the edge of the cat's scratching platform. She has loved it to death and it is now unravelling, so much so that I have had to look for a replacement. Taken for Macro Mondays 'Pick Two' theme.
~~~~~ Why ~~~~~
~ by Lloyd Klumpp ~
My Poetry's not a work of art.
Its more
A work of pain
The feelings here reveal my heart.
What's lost
And hoped to gain.
The words I write are not for you
And not for he or she.
The words I write
Are meant to cure
The damaged parts
Of me.
Something different … probably not for everyone! ;~)
I'd posted this picture before,but was then contacted by the manager of the company who asked me to remove it.
Having removed the company name from the shot,I've decided to re-post the image,but without any details of the company or the location.
Keen bus fanatics may well recognise the livery,but I'll keep quiet about it.
It all sounds simple enough: if you want to improve your photography, study good photographs and learn from them. So where does one find good photographs? In galleries; in photo books; the winners of reputable competitions; photographs that people are prepared to pay for, handsomely. They must be good. Then I saw a photograph that had been awarded $28,000 for first prize in a reputable competition: a depiction of a corner of a room, just three planes meeting at a point, with what looked like a rough circle, scratched by hand on the negative. ? Okay, maybe I need to go farther up market. Cindy Sherman's Untitled #96 fetched $3.9m at auction. It must be really good, for that price: the head and torso of a sunburned girl wearing an orange sweater and checked skirt, lying on some orange tiles. Lots of orange but I still failed to see the attraction. I decided to skip the also-rans and check out the most expensive photograph ever sold: Andreas Gurskey’s Rhein II. A river, shot from the side, with green banks, a footpath and a moderately cloudy sky. Looks like it might have been shot from the window of a passing bus. Lots of green; lots of parallel straight lines; nice echo of the sky colour in the water. But would I pay upwards of $4.3m for it, even if I had the money? I don’t think so. Okay, now it doesn’t sound so simple. I mean, is a photograph good just because someone says it’s good? I need to give this some more thought.
This is one of my favorite churches in Lisbon because of the unique atmosphere inside. Igreja de São Domingos was first built in 1241 and was once the largest church in Lisbon. It has underwent many reconstructions since.
After the 1755 earthquake the church was rebuilt.
"The church shows features of Baroque architecture. While the exterior is characterized by simple lines, the interior still reveals some of its notorious eclectic richness. We can find that the architecture, both of the sacristy and of the entrance, still retains some of the Mannerist features.
Inside, the church looks damaged – and it is. It was damaged in two major earthquakes (1531 and 1755) and was devastated by a fire in 1959. Although structural elements were restored, many signs of the fire were left on the columns and many of the walls."
