The beautiful bloom with the bee in a previous post. Winter finally came and the freezing cold damaged the blooms. My Camellias are the spring blooming ones.
just after the plane that was above it in formation had been shot down by anti-aircraft fire near Chichi Jima and fell on this TBF, breaking off the left wingtip and cracking the fuselage just ahead of the tail. The damaged plane was flown by its pilot about 100 miles back to its task group but had to crash land in the water. All crew members were rescued. Plane was from USS BENNINGTON (CV-20). Probably taken 18 February-4 March 1945.

This book one of my most prized possessions, a gift from a friend a long time ago. Recently I had it restored (you can see that the wormholes have been covered with (acid-free) tissue paper).
The Hall of Mosses Trail in the Hoh Rainforest (part of the Olympic National Park) is filled with old temperate trees covered in green and brown mosses. Trees include bigleaf maples and Sitka spruces. The mosses on the trees do not damage the trees. However, the trees can fall by the winds in storms because of their shorter roots due to the abundance of nutrients and water in the forest. Many trees and mosses grow from and over the fallen tree trunks.

Once again a short trip to the gardens of Schloss Dyck near Jüchen. When nature blooms, the flying motifs are not far. When we looked at the photo on the monitor, we first saw that his wing had a crack. But that could not keep him from his work.

Here in Hemyock we "got off lightly"; personally just a fence panel and this tree. It called for some "Emergency" repair work to stop it falling onto my and the neighbours garden sheds.

You know that moment when you go to export something and you check the file after just to make sure it's perfect. Yeah for the last 30 minutes I've been checking every file to get this one spot on. Even now it's not the way I want it because when I go to export it the last texture used reverts back to the default position and I don't like it. I made due with this one and it was the most balanced from the millions of files. Aside from that I'm enjoy this little thing. Not sure where it'll take me. I hope to develop a better technique for the future if I keep up with this "style".
Anyway this is my favourite metaphor for my current life.
it's so hot out right now that my house is an oven and I'm the baked potato in it. Making my mind mush.

Magnolia is a large genus of about 210 flowering plant species in the subfamily Magnolioideae of the family Magnoliaceae.
The natural range of Magnolia species is rather scattered and includes eastern North America, Central America and the West Indies and east and southeast Asia. Some species are found in South America. Today many species of Magnolia and an ever increasing number of hybrids can also be found as ornamentals in large parts of North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. The genus is named after French botanist Pierre Magnol, from Montpellier. See Origin of the name Magnolia.
Magnolia is an ancient genus. Having evolved before bees appeared, the flowers developed to encourage pollination by beetles. As a result, the carpels of Magnolia flowers are tough, to avoid damage by eating and crawling beetles. Fossilised specimens of M. acuminata have been found dating to 20 million years ago, and of plants identifiably belonging to the Magnoliaceae dating back to 95 million years ago. Another primitive aspect of Magnolias is their lack of distinct sepals or petals. The term tepal has been coined to refer to the intermediate element that Magnolia has instead. Magnolias are used as food plants by the larvae of some Lepidoptera species including Giant Leopard Moth.
Magnolia grandiflora is the official state flower of both Mississippi and Louisiana. The flower's abundance in Mississippi is reflected in its state nickname, "Magnolia State". The magnolia is also the official state tree of Mississippi.
One of the oldest nicknames for Houston, Texas Is "The Magnolia City" due to the abundance of Magnolias growing along Buffalo Bayou.
In general, Magnolia is a genus which has attracted a lot of horticultural interest. Hybridisation has been immensely successful in combining the best aspects of different species to give plants which flower at an earlier age than the species themselves, as well as having more impressive flowers. One of the most popular garden magnolias is a hybrid, M. x soulangeana (Saucer magnolia; hybrid M. liliiflora x M. denudata).
The bark from M. officinalis has long been used in traditional Chinese medicine, where it is known as hou po (厚朴). In Japan, kōboku, M. obovata has been used in a similar manner. The aromatic bark contains magnolol and honokiol, two polyphenolic compounds that have demonstrated anti-anxiety and anti-angiogenic properties. Magnolia bark also has been shown to reduce allergic and asthmatic reactions.
Magnolia has attracted the interest of the dental research community because magnolia bark extract inhibits many of the bacteria responsible for caries and periodontal disease. In addition, the constituent magnolol interferes with the action of glucosyltransferase, an enzyme needed for the formation of bacterial plaque.

The lunatic is on the grass
The lunatic is on the grass
Remembering games and daisy chains and laughs
Got to keep the loonies on the path
The lunatic is in the hall
The lunatics are in my hall
The paper holds their folded faces to the floor
And every day the paper boy brings more
And if the dam breaks open many years too soon
And if there is no room upon the hill
And if your head explodes with dark forbodings too
Ill see you on the dark side of the moon
The lunatic is in my head
The lunatic is in my head
You raise the blade, you make the change
You re-arrange me till Im sane
You lock the door
And throw away the key
Theres someone in my head but its not me.
And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ear
You shout and no one seems to hear
And if the band youre in starts playing different tunes
Ill see you on the dark side of the moon

At first I thought this flower was showing a bit of wear because it was past its prime. Then I realized that close proximity to sharp thorns and inevitable winds have taken their toll.
When entering Nassau, The Bahamas, I noticed this house that appeared to have been damaged by a hurricane.
The photo was taken from the deck of the Carnival Liberty.
