Dagger

Tlingit, Alaska, ca. 1850-60

Black Legion Blade

The blade of the Black Legion soldiers, evil servants of the Lord of the Shadows. Many of these wicked blades were forged in the dark mines of Lokonia and each was wrought with a clawed guard and pommel. Design patented.

Overall Length: 15-1/2"

Blade Length: 5-3/4"

Blade Thickness: 1/8"

Blade Material: Mirror polished 420 J2 stainless steel, false-edged top.

Handle Material: Cast metal, rat-tail tang construction.

Plaque: 7" x 18-7/8" x 3/4" wood, burned-edge finish, includes mounting hardware, instructions.

I turned a practice wooden Rondel dagger for a friend on my homemade lathe. I used a piece of wood he found in his garage, followed a photo he provided, and his marks for the length of the pommel, handle, and guard. Now I want one!

The Holocaust dagger was manufactured in the concentration camp Auschwitz by the inmates sometime before 1944. It was wrought from a shard of broken rail track and embellished with stolen items (under the threat of death), a toilet pull chain knob and a beaten out German milk can, and many other things! The intention of it's manufacture were that of rebellion and escape but this information follows the blade by word of mouth alone. The blade bears witness to many hundreds of hours of sharpening against stone. The nationality of those who produced it are unknown since they perished in the war but it is thought that they were Jewish.

The dagger is a unique and genuine item and was formerly in the store rooms of a prominent museum!

This weapon was concealed and protected by numerous brave individuals during it's war years and is still masked in mystery.

Please do treat this item with the reverence that it deserves!

As American troops are leaving Iraq, let's take a look at a dagger from the ancient Mesopotamian city of Kish, located in Modern-day Iraq.

Kish was one of the earliest cities in the world, and was excavated during a collaboration between the Ashmolean Museum at Oxford, the Iraqi National Museum in Baghdad, and The Field Museum.
