CONVAIR F-102A "DELTA DAGGER"
The primary mission of the F-102 was to intercept and destroy enemy aircraft. It was the world's first supersonic all-weather jet interceptor and the USAF's first operational delta-wing aircraft. The F-102 made its initial flight on October 24, 1953 and became operational with the Air Defense Command (ADC) in 1956. At the peak of deployment in the late 1950s, F-102s equipped more than 25 ADC squadrons. Convair built 1,101 F-102s, 975 of which were F-102As. The USAF also bought 111 TE-102s with side by side seating as combat trainers.
In a wartime situation, after electronic equipment on board the F-102 had located the enemy aircraft, the F-102's radar would guide it to a position of attack. At the proper moment, the electronic fire control system would automatically fire the F-102's air-to-air rockets and missiles. The Warner Robins Air Logistics Center had logistics responsibility for the avionics, fire control systems, countermeasures, and air launched missiles used on the F-102.
The F-102 on display, serial number 56-1151, was delivered to the USAF on May 31, 1957 it was originally assigned to the 48th Fighter Interceptor Squadron (FIS) at Langley AFB, Virginia. In March 1958, it was transferred to the 95th FIS at Andrews AFB, Maryland. It next went to Tyndall AFB, Florida, where it was assigned to the 4756th Air Defense Group. In 1970, 56-1151 was redesignated GF-102 and became an instructional airframe. Two years later, it was placed on static display at Lackland AFB, Texas, where it remained until it was moved to the Museum of Aviation in 2009

I managed to get to see one of the most eagerly awaited Chinese films
of 2004 with my friend Steve; House of Flying Daggers. The film was a
mix of wirework acrobatics, martial arts skill and Western style
computer graphics. The plot nipped along at a rate of knots until the
final fight setpiece when the heroine came back more times from the
dead than Lazarus and Jesus combined; a truly operatic scene.
Unexpectedly for a martial arts film it has enough romantic bits in it
that you can bring her indoors along to watch it with you. An
entertaining film, but does not compare to the Jet Li film Hero made
around the same time.
Today they also had to wear Valentines civvies to school .. the requirement in order to participate was to bring a tin of food for a charity ... which is one of the things that I love about his new school, they are extremely community orientated and are always getting the children involved in charitable projects - even the little ones. They had to wear something red and white, preferably with a heart on it. Now if any of you have little boys, you know that that is asking the impossible ... I came across this very talented embroiderer ?!?!? (is there such a word? What is a person who embroiders called?) She goes by the Flickrname of torrance and i thought to myself .. now that is a awesome idea!!!! SO here it is .... I hope that it is good enough that she will take it as a compliment!!
[UPDATE : Tiina AKA torrance said that she it was a sublime stitching pattern that she had]
