View allAll Photos Tagged daffodils,

that was the name of the paint my parents let me pick out for my childhood bedroom... still as soothing today!

I do not think our daffodils are as good as usual this year, but I (Edgar) took some photos.

Happy Mothers Day Ladies :)

This is a slightly artistic rendition of some beautiful springtime dafodils that were blooming at Lake Ruth on the campus of Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois this past April. Our camera club, the WIU Hot Shots, met for a photoshoot at Lake Ruth where there was a myriad of different types of flowers blossoming.

Daffodils making an early appearance

Rydal

One of the highlights of the year is Daffodils at Rydal”. An annual event held in the 2nd and 3rd weekend of September to celebrate the arrival of spring.

Thousands of daffodils have been planted in the parks and gardens of Rydal which is named after the English village of Rydal home for many years of the poet William Wordsworth, famous for his poem “The Daffodils”.

Daffodils by our front door are blooming strongly. The plants were completely under snow not long ago.

It isn't Spring until the Daffodils have opened up... and now they have!

I find myself to be lacking proficiency in the art of flower-photo making. What are your tips to getting better photos of flowers?

According to Wikipedia this pretty kind of daffodil isn't only cultivated as a lovely garden flower but also for its essential oil, narcissus oil, one of the most popular fragrances used in perfumes. Guess who -again!- didn't think to take a smell ;-)

Studio shot of daffodils

I just knew we couldn't get into April without more snow. So, here is one of my daffodils on the afternoon of April 2, 2016. Snow is still falling, two hours after taking this photo, and really starting to stick. We will see what happens overnight.

Friday's flower - a textured daffodil taken from a bunch of flowers I treated myself to last week... daffs always put a smile on my face, hope it does you too...spring's lurking aroung the corner.

Finally, the daffodils have opened and brightened up the scene!

Some more Daffodils with the Mourne Mountains in the background

I Just purchased Canon EF 24-105mm f/4.0 L IS USM MK1 lens. While out at Kingston Lacy on a family outing i had a chance to put the lens through its paces.

Here one of my shots that day.

Daffodils

William Wordsworth

I wandered lonely as a cloud

That floats on high o'er vales and hills,

When all at once I saw a crowd,

A host, of golden daffodils;

Beside the lake, beneath the trees,

Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine

And twinkle on the Milky Way,

They stretched in never-ending line

Along the margin of the bay:

Ten thousand saw I at a glance,

Tossing their heads in a sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced, but they

Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:

A poet could not but be gay,

In such a jocund company:

I gazed --- and gazed --- but little thought

What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie

In vacant or in pensive mood,

They flash upon that inward eye

Which is the bliss of solitude;

And then my heart with pleasure fills,

And dances with the daffodils
