Slanke hals in vederlichte sierlijkheid.

According to popular belief, a swan feather sewn into the husband's pillow ensures that he remains faithful to his spouse. This can be traced back to the idea that a pair of swan stays together throughout their lives
Held in the reflective watchful gaze of this graceful creature.
Captured on the grounds of Newstead Abbey; I think that this handsome male swan grew attached to me. I had neither seeds nor food of any kind yet he peacefully nibbled at my hand, nuzzled at my camera and posed patiently like a perfect subject for my camera. I was of course mesmerised.

Tundra Swans and Trumpeter Swans have been migrating through here in the past few weeks.
Parkland County, Alberta.
Explore Dec 7/ 07 Mute Swans, landing, early morning light. They actually run across the water as they land which differs from most that ski across the water until they stop. Larger is better www.pbase.com/woody/image/89992210/original.jpg IMG_2186
Black Swan, Cygnus atratus
+=============+
I grew up around water birds, lived in a town named for Swans, and have seen countless clutches raised.
However, this is the first time I'd ever seen the young riding high on the adult’s back.
Three adults and a cygnet. The Trumpeter Swan is larger than the more common Tundra Swan. It does not have the yellow spot on the lores like a Tundra, and also, unlike the Tundra, the dark facial skin extends around to the back of the eye, sometimes making the eye seem to disappear against that dark background.
Sturgeon County, Alberta.

An adult and two juveniles. There was a second adult with this family group, but just a little too distanced from these three for a good composition.
There were both Tundra and Trumpeter Swans at my location yesterday. I posted a group of Tundra Swans last evening.
Wabamun Lake, Parkland County, Alberta.
Yesterday I posted a shot of a juvenile Tundra Swan taken in an urban park. This is an adult Trumpeter Swan taken a couple of weeks ago in a much wilder environment.
