I lost control of a log in my miter saw. You can see the clear parts of the guard have been cut up. It threw the round log back into the wall, dragging the plastic into the blade. I had to disassemble the whole guard and chip out chunks of plastic to make it work right again. Scary!
These pieces are created in sets of two. I’ve used half a dollar per piece. But it’s now an artwork. What is it worth to the viewer? Will they want both pieces so as to have both halves? If the pieces get purchased separately will the owners ever know of each other or wonder where the other half exists? It’s a ‘re-mixed’ and fragmented dollar so is it now rendered worthless anyhow? And would it be different if it was UK currency?

It took a bit of doing, but I got most of the bark peeled away, leaving behind a cold, wet, slightly slippery cambium layer.
Eucalyptus on the left, paperbark on the right, paperbark bark in the bag atop the Eucalyptus at left. There's still a lot of bark on the pieces at right, but it's tiring peeling the inner layers. The stuff in the bag is mostly the obnoxiously peeling stuff from the bigger branches, but I also cleaned a few off entirely to see what they looked like inside, so there are some large, entire collections of bark in the bag, too.

This is the split end of the log. I started by inserting the saw into the split several inches, then sawing through into the log proper.
Eucalyptus, and paperbark branches, the former's ends mostly dry now, the latter's freshly dipped in Anchorseal, and needing now to dry for a day at least.
