These pieces are created in sets of two. I’ve used half a dollar per piece. But it’s now an artwork. What is it worth to the viewer? Will they want both pieces so as to have both halves? If the pieces get purchased separately will the owners ever know of each other or wonder where the other half exists? It’s a ‘re-mixed’ and fragmented dollar so is it now rendered worthless anyhow? And would it be different if it was UK currency?

I threw my foot in there for some sense of scale. It's always hard to tell how big things are with trees, what with them being fractal in nature and all.
I've been curious about hand-resawing for awhile, and the huge check in one end of this Eucalyptus log gave me a good opportunity to test it. I couldn't really seal the messy end, so I sawed through the check to the other side to open it up. The little 15" Irwin saw made a nice cut, though it was really tiring. The longer versions of this saw were in shipment at the time of this photo. It'll be a bit easier when I can make longer strokes while cutting. It will also help having a proper jig for holding logs while making the cuts.
I am especially fond of a story about a mission to marvel at dark jade waters, It's disappointing air hints of good things to come
This little piece is pretty small under the remaining bark, but I think it may be possible to make a very tiny bowl out of it on my mini lathe.

Closeup of the end grain of some as-yet-unidentified Eucalyptus I found fallen (and bug eaten) in an LA neighborhood.
I was supposed to write an essay based on the idea of Francis Alys' Guards (2004), but somehow didn't write an essay at all and got very carried away. It went from a critical look at the place of walking in modern art to attempting to dissolve all logical meaning entirely. Initially a snide piss-take, I wrote a ludicrous non-story about the City of London and its inhabitants. After that the form of the essay went out of the window too. A fuller explanation and the complete PDFs can be found goo.gl/WdhlCg.
Printing the original document under the title "London Eats", I wanted it to be double-sided, but it came out on the same side of paper, to expectedly interesting results.

I include my hand for scale in most of these branch and log shots. It's too hard to tell with the fractal nature of natural things like tree parts how big anything is.
A little cutup I made from a coupon during the last round layoffs/quitting. Especially apt since almost everyone else is quitting now too.
